This was supposed to be the week President-elect Trump's nominees endured tough grilling and determined opposition in Senate confirmation hearings. "Trump Cabinet picks face extreme vetting ahead of confirmation," USA Today reported last month, predicting that several Trump picks could face a very difficult time on Capitol Hill.
Now Week One is ending, and the tough grilling mostly didn't materialize. And all of Trump's first week of nominees seem headed toward confirmation.
Seven Trump picks Attorney General-designate Jeff Sessions, Homeland Security Secretary-designate John Kelly, Secretary of State-designate Rex Tillerson, Transportation Secretary-designate Elaine Chao, Defense Secretary-designate James Mattis, Housing and Urban Development Secretary-designate Ben Carson, and CIA Director-designate Mike Pompeo faced Senate committees this week. The number included three of the so-called Big Four Cabinet positions attorney general, secretary of state, and secretary of defense. (A hearing for the fourth of the Big Four, Treasury Secretary-designate Stephen Mnuchin, has not yet been scheduled.)

Winning!
I think it is very important that all of the cabinet nominations sail through. If they derail one, it makes Scalia’s replacement by a like-minded conservative on SCOTUS much more difficult.
I don't think there is a way to stop them anyhow.
Best. Election. Ever. EVER! :)
You stop them by getting three RINOs like McLame and Linda and one other to break ranks.
Thanks to Harry Reid, they will all be confirmed.......................
Don’t forget little temper tantrum Marco ...
After what McCain is alleged to have done with the dirty dossier I suggest he and his buddies (Graham and Rubio) keep their collective heads down right now, as in way, way down.
Giving up media coverage of cabinet nominee attacks for a failed media attack on Russian ties: not a wise choice.
Never under-estimate the stupidity of McCain and Graham.
I think there will be several dems that will vote to confirm the nominees.
I’m worried that little tiny happy marco will vote against T-Rex in committee which would stop that fine man from getting to the Senate floor for confirmation vote. I have a lot of confidence in T-Rex believe he will be outstanding, if confirmed.
Graham was peddling his view on the O’Reilly show last night that the Russians wrote and disseminated the scurrilous story about Trump in the Moscow Ritz-Carlton. It will be interesting to see what Graham will say when the truth comes out.
I think Linda and McNuts know they're already skating on thin ice, and that if they vote against any of Trump's nominees, the full wrath of the American people will come down on them like a ton of bricks.
They've been in the politics game long enough to know the tremendous power a president has. Power that can be used to utterly destroy them, personally, if that president has actual cause to go after them. Combine that with the steel spined, alpha dog personaity of Donald Trump, and it's a guaranteed certainty.
That would take serious courage on their part. The Democrats don't tolerate any of their members breaking ranks, despite the fact that a majority of Republicans voted to approve all of Obama's nominees.
Me too, but something tells me that little Marco was just grandstanding the other day, and that he knows his life will become a living hell if he bucks the will of his party's new leader.
Prissy little pissant Pandsey has a lot of nerve trying to make hay out of this so-called "dossier." Might just temp somebody, somewhere to hack his own and release it to the public. Might even be a public service to do so. I've always wondered what they've had on him since he went over to the dark side after the Clinton impeachment.
Trump knows they can’t stop his picks unless the RINOs do it. Then there will be hell to pay. His picks are smart enough to answer the silly questions which are called “vetting’. A 12 part commentary with an open ended questionis not making progress. They should just vote and swear them in.
WINNING
Manchin ain’t voting against any of them.
