You really have to hand it to Donald Trump here. Instead of picking an education bureaucrat, he picked a person who sees the bigger picture and knows that American education must get out of the Stone Age and move into the 21st century. Because Trump does not come from out of the political class, he has no regard for how hard it is to make any progress on education reform. Thank goodness for that. This is the breath of fresh air we needed.

There are even people right here on FR who ridicule and chastize this woman and her supporters. I am in west Michigan, this woman is christian, and committed to improving education. Go get em Mrs DeVos.

Abolish the U.S. Dept. of Education.
Should be DeVos’s FIRST order of business.

The republicans have all the votes they need to confirm Devoss. If they don’t confirm her, then it shows they care more about unions and the govt education monopoly than they do about helping kids get real educations.

I watched Senator Tim Scott’s introduction of her yesterday. Tim has always focused on education and has authored legislation in that area as well. I had no idea he knew her or that he had attended one the the Delos schools. That told me all I needed to know. I am a huge admirer of Senator Scott and his endorsement was icing on the cake. I wish her well.

If a lawmaker doesn’t send his/her kids to public school, they should have no right to vote on the issue or even have an opinion. Lawmakers have to stop acting like they are big shots and above the electorate that gave them the job. If their kids have school choice, so should everyone!
