The president has authority to defend the country. Certainly, the Chief Executive has the power to safely "check, examine, scrutinize, investigate, inspect, look over, screen, assess, evaluate, appraise" (a.k.a vet) all immigrants.
I’m with you, HarleyLady27. Amen.

I’m well aware that you do not understand separation of powers.

I don’t think this is about muslims. I think it’s about stopping terrorists and about H1-Bs and other visa programs that interfere with hiring Americans.
I think the Left is trying to end run a TPP-like arrangement, to continue to dissolve the US and have sub-standard wages/earnings/welfare for as many Americans/people in the US as possible.

But he can't just do anything and say it was to defend the country. The Constitution grants specific powers to specific branches of government to achieve their goals. It happens to give Congress the power to control immigration, not the President. Congress has passed a law that allows the President to do what Trump did, block immigration from specific countries. But it's not a power he has inherently. That's the only point I'm making, because the person I replied to implied it was a constitutional power.
