When I was looking for a job about 11 years ago, there was a headhunter who didn’t want to place me with an employer, but put together a list of required certification that NOBODY could possibly have. Well, not only was I certified in those technologies, but I was a Master Certified Instructor (Novell) in all of them.
But I didn’t get the job. About a year later, it turned out I was speaking with someone who worked for the employer, and he told me that they hired a contractor from the headhunter, and he was completely unqualified. Not only had I installed their pilot project network, but I trained all of their administrators. My availability was never presented to them, and the guy they placed had an H1-B visa.

All the major tech companies now have major research labs in Bangalore. H-1B visa reform will ensure those “technicians” will stay in the Bangalore research centers.
All Tech Executives must renounce their U.S. Citizenship.
That should be Trump’s next EO.
The indentured servant issue and the corporate profiteering are one side of it.
There’s another, too. Just as we de-industrialized large portions of our economy by offshoring almost everything possible, this de-industrializes us internally. It’s a kind of onshore-offshoring. STEM is vital to our economy, and it should be a rewarding career for those who have STEM talents. Slavery isn’t rewarding.
The word will get around, and domestic STEM graduates will drop off sharply. Similar things have happened, to lesser degrees, in law and medicine, which either got overpopulated (law) or over-regulated (medicine).
Just as you can’t have a successful 100% service economy of burger flippers, you can’t have a successful economy if you abuse everyone in STEM and turn your own young talent off to it.
Imprison all tech owners for slavery. eg Gates, Zuckerburg
Renounce the US citizenship of tech executives.
Repeal H-1B slave law.
Avoid all STEM careers.
In my experience, for software developers, it breaks down kind of like below. The pay ranges are pretty broad when accounting for skill and tenure, but below is a good comparative average.
Silicon Valley: $US200,000/yr.
US Midwest: $US100,000/yr.
Raleigh, NC: $US125,000/yr.
Hyderabad India: $US25,000/yr
Manilla is becoming a very hot spot for IT Services like the Help Desk and for customer contact centers. A skilled IT Sysadmin makes in the range of $US25,000/yr in Manilla. Same person in the US makes $US80-90,000/yr.
Point being, H1B’s aren’t the only threat to IT and Engineering professionals.
My son tells me the tech firms in Austin are heavily infested with H1Bs.
The outsourcing has been tried and does not work well for a lot of things, which is why the tech companies are importing H1Bs in the first place.
This is my experience no H1B person I know had a spouse authorized to work in the US. Usually the visa holder has to support his family and every case I know they are getting less than 50% of the hourly rate
