Is ISIS Breaking Apart? What Its Media Operations Suggest
Foreign Policy ^ | January 31, 2017 | By Charlie Winter and Colin P. Clarke

With the Islamic State (or ISIS) facing setbacks in Iraq and Syria, most observers believe that the group is crumbling. Indeed, just last week, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi declared eastern Mosul “fully liberated” from the group. Evidently, the U.S.-led coalition tasked with countering ISIS, well into the third year of its ongoing military campaign, has made progress. As a result of efforts in Iraq and Syria in 2016 alone, several high-ranking leaders have been killed or captured, the group’s finances have taken a serious hit, and it is hemorrhaging territory. Over the next few years, ISIS is sure to break apart further.

Interesting approach of analysis: by examining ISIS propaganda sources the intelligence community can conclude ISIS is decentralizing.

"Over the next few years, ISIS is sure to break apart further."

Years?

I expect sooner from Trump.

Our third year of military operations involving ISIS, but our third week in which we are trying to destroy ISIS instead of enabling them. It looks like we will soon have another success to add to President Trump's record.

The problem as I see it is that Isis is like a tornado. A tornado is the most unstable point between two huge air masses of different temperature. In the case of Isis the one air mass is Islam. The other air mass is the rest of the world. When the two meet you have a tornado. But when that tornado dies down, due to equalizing the forces, others along the weather front appear. They won’t be called Isis, they’ll just be jihadist tornados. As long as Islam exists we will have tornadoes ripping through the civilized world and killing innocent civilians. The Islamic pseudo-religion/war cult forces that on its followers and they force themselves on the rest of us.

So, yes, by all means rejoice in the temporary victory over Isis. Bear in mind, though, it is only temporary. Next, it will be a taxi driver in New York who one day feels the need to exercise his religious right and kill a few people. It will be some college student who discovers that a freezer in the lab where he studies has a sample of Ebola. It will be a nurse in a major hospital who quietly gives out the wrong drugs or suffocates helpless patients. It’s going to be a long century.

Funny how the Russians and Iranians unleashing holy hell on IS and Al Qaeda had nothing to do with it...

All the more reason to declare islam a murder cult and ban its practice. Deport or incarcerate its unstable murdering filth.

“All the more reason to declare islam a murder cult and ban its practice”

There was a similar cult in India called Thuggees. The British hunted them down and killed them all.

Interesting metaphor: Islam as a tornado. Indeed, is there anywhere in the world where Islam lives in peace and harmony with its non-Muslim neighbors? Has there ever been such a place? I cannot think of one. After they are beaten decisively with great violence, the fierce winds of jihad do quiet down for a while; but this lull is always temporary. Islam has forever been a destabilizing force wherever it occurs.

Trump hasn’t had enough time to find and block ALL their Obama planted Fed funding sources yet. Much less those from jihadi immigrants. But at least he’s working the problem.

Exactly. Months, perhaps as long as a year, but soon they will all be dead.
