Democrats May Be On The Verge Of Becoming A 'Permanent Minority' Party
Daily Caller ^ | February 6, 2017 | Stewart Lawrence

Posted on 02/07/2017 5:32:46 AM PST by Zakeet

Remember when Democrats predicted the imminent decline of the GOP?

The theory was that Republicans were so out of touch with women and ethnic minorities that they would soon be relegated to the status of a "permanent minority" - supported only by Southern white men and incapable of recapturing the White House.

Donald Trump’s victory has put an end to this fantasy. Now it's the Democrats who are facing their own "doomsday" scenario.

[Snip]

For Democrats, who've grown accustomed to having their way in national politics, it's like staring into the abyss.

Note: The entire article recounts the terrible state of affairs of the Rats ... and is thus worthy of a read.

Meh. Every election the press is writing the losing party’s obituary.

IF WE DONT GET A HANDLE ON VOTING FRAUD THE GOP WILL BE RIGHT BACK WHERE THEY WERE

The ONLY reason Trump won was the massive enthusiasm for him.

He would get 15 or 20 thousand people showing up at his rallies, and she would barely be able to scrap up 300.

She was confident because they know how much voting they can manufacture. They PLANNED on her winning by 10%, so I bet they planned on manufacturing that amount (or removing votes for Trump by similar)

WE NEED TO INVESTIGATE

And never underestimate the power of the GOP to royally screw things up.

Sanders and Biden, who might have fared better against Trump

No one can possibly believe this. Biden cannot even fare well against himself, and Sanders is an avowed socialist, who would have gone nowhere because, it turned out, betraying his own convictions, he sold out his own supporters as the straw candidate Hillary could beat hands down.

When I first saw the suicide strategy in Blazing Saddles I thought it was rather silly slapstick. I never imagined that desperate folks would actually resort to.

That was my thought, too.
Though, one thing though is that the Dems have the huge challenge of recapturing state legislatures. The last redistricting after the 2010 census was a huge win for us in terms of controlling the House.

If the House and Senate doesn’t get their act together after many chances given by the voters, the GOP will be right back where it was.

As McConnell is doing now with his just keep rollin' along strategy on confirmations. Maybe sometime next century Trump will actually have a cabinet - oh and then we get to the deputy secretaries, under-secretaries, and finally commissioners and assistant secretaries. And, for those who don't know how Washington works, most power is actually in the hands of the Assistant Secretaries. As the "program secretarial officers" they are the constitutional officers who run everything.

So, at the turtle's pace it is going to be 2019 before we have a government.

I heard the same thing 8 years ago, but it was the Republicans that were forever doomed then.
Don't count on it.
Sooner or later the pendulum will swing the other way, again.
Just don't pass any laws that the opposition can use against you.

I thought if Trump was going to win there would have to massive turnout that would be a good for our side for once, with folks who haven’t participated for a while and first time voters coming out in droves. I was way wrong, there was actually less eligible voter turnout than in 2008 and 2012.

We haven’t had even 65% eligible voter turnout since 1908, which is pretty amazing when you consider the millions in campaign money spent to sway the swayable 10% of voters who actually manage to vote somehow.

Yep. Before the election of Donald Trump they were saying the same about the republicans.

The GOP is actually never moved from where it was. It is still not governing - moving business along on the house and senate calendars to get stuff done. We have spend how many days on the floor just getting De Vos to a vote. A week on floor maneuvers for one cabinet position - AFTER it escaped the slow-rolling in committee.

That's why they want open borders and illegals voting.

I'm not sure that the GOP considers losing to Democrats "screwing up." They have the same goals i.e. keep themselves in power, reward their associates with largesse provided by looting the taxpayers, and squeeze the working Americans to buy votes from the indolent - those who are too lazy to steal for themselves, but rather depend on the government to do it for them.

Ain’t gonna happen. Half of the voters, give or take a few million dead and illegal voters, voted for Hillary because she promised to steal from the rest of us. That half can always be counted on to vote Democrat.

I honestly think the real problem is that they are all part of the #uniparty.

That is one of the reasons I expect the D’s to eventually come back unless this really does result in the hot Civil War many are suggesting it will.

Nope. We have eight years (slight chance it’s only four or as much as twelve).

Rather than writing an epitaph for the Ctrl-Left, we need to start preparing. Dismantle the mechanisms of government control over the people so that the left will lack the machinery to micromanage our lives when they do retake power. Eliminate the Department of Education and BATFE; repeal restrictions on our gun rights. Shrink counterproductive federal departments and eliminate entire agencies.

Play like even when we’re not going to score a touchdown, we’re going to make sure the other side has the worst imaginable field position. But also play for as many touchdowns as possible. We don’t want to dominate for three quarters and then get crushed by a blitz when we’re overconfident for the 4th quarter.

Not if the Republican Party can help it. The Democrat Party will be a permanent minority Party only if the Republican Party can’t prevent it.
