It’s Time to Define Fascism
American Thinker ^ | February 11, 2017 | Richard Winchester

Posted on 02/11/2017 5:57:13 AM PST by Kaslin

Among the many epithets the Über-Left hurls against its opponents – racist, sexist, homophobe, Islamophobe, etc. – a persistent tendency has been to scream. “Fascist, Nazi, etc.”

For whatever the reason, the Internet search engine, Google, has redefined fascism as a right-wing political and social movement. Does Google want to get in on the Left’s favored tactic?

Lest anyone think that cries of “fascist, Nazi, etc.” somehow belong to the past, watch scenes of the violence at the University of California – Berkeley in early February 2017, and count the number of times the loonies charged that Milo Yiannopoulos – a flamboyantly gay Trump supporter – was a fascist, Nazi, etc.

Claiming that Yiannopoulos is a Hitlerite is strange indeed, if one remembers how the Nazis under Hitler treated homosexuals.

(I’m not rushing to Yiannopoulos’s defense. Before the Berkeley riots I had not heard of him, and still don’t know what to make of him.)

If we’re going to bandy about the F-word – not that one, another one: fascism – it behooves us to get a firm understanding of what the term means. The corpus dealing with diverse facets of fascism in general and National Socialism in particular is too large and diverse to encapsulate in a short essay. There is, however, a book by an expert on the subject: Stanley Payne’s, Fascism: Comparison and Definition (1980). Payne’s book is concise, is not suffused with Marxist or neo-Marxist cant, and does not suffer from political correctness run amok. Payne is a Professor Emeritus of History at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, and is regarded as a major analyst of fascism.

Before the Berkeley riots I had not heard of him,...

Not that it's the premise of his article, but the elite media has no idea what's going on in the country, including this writer.

The discussion struck me as a lot of gobbledygook.

The rioters are communists, or their willing dupes. It’s amazing that even those on the right have a hard time saying it. Communists. They are of the same ilk that had to be forcefully put down in Spain, and given helicopter rides in Chile. Let’s hope our respectable class gets them under control. Otherwise, there will be a reaction, and things might get ugly.

To: Kaslin; All

just read the whole thing on AmThinker. I should have just skipped to the last line in his article:

“...It’s time for the Left to take that page out of its playbook...”

then I would have saved myself the time spent on reading this stuff.

He does not clearly define that Fascism is born of the left, or the key component that binds Fascism to Marxism & Communism - the State is supreme, all is for the State... even the children.

Most of his article is finding fault within the left’s use of the “F-word”. But this isn’t some academic discussion to be pondered, is it?

His last line, calling upon the left to pull (exorcise, perhaps?) the use of this tactic from it’s playbook... I stopped there and wondered, “why would the left do such a thing?”. Because by throwing around the charge of fascism, this is not the smart or truthful thing to do?

To ask that question - can the left do the right thing? - is to answer it.

The JG

There is only one definition that matters:

"Political tags - such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth - are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire." -- Robert A. Heinlein

Fascists and authoritarians of every stripe don’t like definitions and dictionaries.

“Conservative” is meaningless at this point.

Fascism:

Anything that comes out of the mouth of a Liberal politician, a Millennial college student, a Silicon Valley software mogul, or a Media talking head.

#6 - Definitions.

Now, drop down a couple of lines on the Merriam-Webster site and read the definitions customized for “Defined for English Language Learners” and “Defined for Kids”.

<><>Defined for English Language Learner: a way of organizing a society in which a government ruled by a dictator controls the lives of the people and in which people are not allowed to disagree with the government

: very harsh control or authority

<><>Defined for Kids: a political system headed by a dictator in which the government controls business and labor and opposition is not permitted.

To me it’s

A) Anti-free speech

B) Corporate/Government collusion against the people, ie Obamacare

C) FDR

In any case in the US it primarily exists in the Democratic Party and friends.
