Freepers, I need some help and prayers. The future daughter-in-law of a close friend was in a bad car accident late last week. By the grace and mercy of God she was not as seriously injured as orignally thought. However, the treatment she has received from the hospital she was taken to has been deplorable at best. She was air lifted to McLeod's Hospital in Florence, SC on Thursday February 9. She was admitted to the hospital that afternoon, and was left in the cervical collar the EMTs put on her until Saturday (it had dried and caked bodily fluids on it). The hospital knew this girl needed surgery Thursday afternoon yet did not call a surgeon until Sunday. She has been given food that had bugs in it. The list goes on and on. Last night she was threatened by the doctor who operated on her because she overheard a conversation while sedated for surgery on her arm. She repeated what she heard about strippers and drug use to a nurse.
Sadly, I’ve seen the horrors of deplorable health care. She has my prayers.
That is terrible! This should be reported to medical board and state agencies.
That being said, I just said a prayer for this young lady, for her complete healing and restoration as well as for her medical treatment situation to given over to better doctors.
I can’t help with the board members, but I have prayed for you, the young woman, her family and all concerned. What a terrible experience! Blessings upon you all.
Prayers up. You may consider contacting your Reprentative or other local officials. Undoubtedly that hospital receives tax dollars in one form or another so they should be interested in helping.
I am a physician and former Chief Medical Officer of a major institution. Forget about the board of directors. File a complaint against the doctors with the state board of medicine. For the hospital contact the agency for Health care accreditation in your state. Also file a direct complaint with the Joint Commission. This complaint will be the most important as it will be investigated from a level of participation with the Medicare services.
Our Father who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come,
Thy will be done,
On Earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
Amen
The entire world of human affairs is like that - we’re going along and everything is jake, then, suddenly, it rains cr*p and we’re neck deep.
No one escapes or avoids it.
You are not alone.
Praying.
The delay in surgery may be warranted. Many other tests could be monitoring changes in her vitals and watching for other injuries. Moving the brace could be dangerous if there was damage . Under sedation she could have halicintated. Although I recently had procedure on my heart and Drs and nurses were discussing sports etc. I was a bit unnerved but I assume this work is what they did routinely and such talk help deal with stress.
You might be able to get some action by going through them as they might have the power to pull their accreditation.
THANK YOU SOOO much!!
Call the media they love to stir the pot with this stuff
Make sure there is family or friend with her 24/7
Nothing has changed since the 1990s. I was in an accident and I didn't get my hair shampooed for six weeks. When it was the water turned bright red with dried blood.
Possibly call the local or state health department for inspections, if the food is bad.
Prayers up. May she get the help she needs, and may followers of Jesus around her witness to her with His love!
tbi, the unSpoken injury, unSeen wound with no medicine. Only Witch Doctor Treatment.
Make sure there is family or friend with her 24/7

Major dittoes to this. It’s important even in a good hospital to have someone to advocate for patients & keep an eye on what is going on. Being there early when the doctors make their rounds is especially important, from my personal experience - they notice when family makes the effort to be there & talk to them, even if it’s 6 a.m. in the morning.
