Aetna chief executive Mark Bertolini said Wednesday that the Affordable Care Act's exchanges - the marketplaces where consumers can buy individual health coverage under President Barack Obama's signature health-care law - are in a "death spiral."

"My anticipation would be that in '18, we'll see a lot of markets without any coverage at all," Bertolini said.

Representatives of the Health and Human Services Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

And the Republicans want to go down that same path with their own plan.

Good. It should be as easy as buying car insurance.

Golly, Valerie must be going nuts trying to turn O/Care’s death spiral into what was supposed to be a gangbuster fund-raiser for Obama’s foundations and his billion dollar library.

The comments to the article are amusing, especially the ones calling for Single Payer. Don’t these people realize that would mean putting Donald Trump in charge of all health care? Also, Single Payer would be an easy way to end abortions. Forget repealing Roe v. Wade, just don’t include abortions in the list of covered services. Abortionists are among the most mercenary doctors in the business. No money, no abortions.

A-n-o-t-h-e-r debacle for the anointed magic-man, Obama. His fondest dreams in ruins.

(a) to confer universal healthcare on America----FAILURE.

(b) to create a permanent Democratic Majority---FAILURE.

Eight years later, the Democratic Party is decimated at every level of government. Significantly, Obama handed his famous state-of-the-art election campaign – the data, the staff, the fundraising – to his non-profit Organizing for Action --.not to the Democratic Party. (HAT TIP GOPJ; KeyLargo

(c) to have a third term via Hillary---FAILURE.

===========================================

All of this can and should be used against Obama and Democrats at every opportunity.

Ah, wasn’t Aetna at the trough when Obama was creating Obamacare? Didn’t Aetna make sure they not only got a large share of the pie, but backend government guarantees as well? And now Aetna admits that their collaborative effort with Democrats is in a death spiral. Gee, isn’t that what more than half the country predicted before Nancy Pelosi and her gang of thieves passed this thing?

The big insurance companies/conglomerates can go Fug themselves. They were ALL in in supporting and building Obama-ass-care. Nobody in their right mind thought this sham would work. Now it has to be cleaned up just like non-house broken puppy poops. It personally screwed my household and my stupid ass company was right on ACA coattails shredding a perfectly fine health benefits plan. I spit on the legacy of Barrack Obama and the quislings who let him do whatever he wanted.

Maybe more than you think. If ACA collapses while republicans control DC and one person dies because they lost their insurance Mr. Trump will be blamed without mercy for the failure. Do you think they will blame the Dems? They are just waiting for the bodies to start piling up. This was the plan all the time. They just assumed Hillary would be there to push single payer, but if they can paint the republicans with the broad brush of death they will gleefully take it. Hell they ran against Herbert Hoover and the depression for 70 years.
