Feds: Nine planes violated President Trump’s airspace over the weekend

WEST PALM BEACH —

At least nine planes violated temporary flight restrictions through Monday morning for President Donald Trump’s Palm Beach Mar-a-Lago stay, with at least two of those having the unique experience of being buzzed by military jets, federal officials confirmed this morning to The Palm Beach Post.

Eight of those crossed the line on Friday alone, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement.

WAY too many - either the gov is asleep, or trying to harm POTUS or they thought none of them a problem. Why even have restrictions then? /sarc

Or, more likely, the FAA issued a TFR at the last second and these guys weren’t aware of it...

Keep it up and they will have the even more unique experience of a high speed spiral quickly followed by a firey death.

It’s Florida. People fly there. Piece of Americana.

Trump need not worry about the retired USN, USAF, Army, USMC pilots flying their bugsmashers in the civilian planes.

Threat seems to be taxpayer funded aircraft.

Media telling us who to fear. 15 years of this crap. We aren’t falling for it.

No excuse to violate a TFR - wonder how many were Bahama-bound and not paying attention.

Every electronic chart and flight planning app and most aviation GPS will alert a pilot to active TFRs...

With some personal knowledge about this, might help shed at least some light:

It really depends on the violation. I inadvertently found myself inside a VP TFR (for Biden) on the Cape a few years ago. I knew beforehand that a TFR was in the vicinity of where I was flying, but it was a confusing set of about 5 concentric circles, with confusing operational times, and thinking I was outside of them location/time wise... all of a sudden found a black SUV headed to me after landing. Biden was not even nearby - at the last moment, decided to travel by car rather than chopper. These TFRs pop up sometimes with minutes notice.

After many months of a slow process, finally met with the FAA investigators, where they were essentially trying to determine intent. When it was clear that, while I fully admitted being in the TFR, that I had no intent to violate it, with rationale how I’d avoid it in the future, the matter was effectively over.

Many GA pilots have a lax attitude about getting thorough pre-flight briefings, particularly in day/VFR conditions. A simple point to point flight that someone has done a hundred times, legally, with no assistance from FAA controllers, in otherwise uncontrolled airspace, becomes a legal nightmare if you are caught violating a TFR. All pilots have a responsibility to get proper briefings before every flight, but I also understand how this happens to well trained individuals who just get caught becoming too familiar with a routine. In almost every case, no bad intent is present.

SOMEONE AT THE FAA NEEDS TO TAKE A DIRT NAP. They are INTENTIONALLY refraining from notifying pilots of restricted airspace, in an effort to HARASS TRUMP and open the door to placing him at risk. This is intentional.

OK....

How many were Ultralights or LSA's ( especially without electrical, think a restore Cub w/ no Starter or Generator ) out for a 100 hamburg or just burning holes in the skies and unfortunately did a less than stellar Pre-Flight Planning, check the NOTAM's people!!!

Not sure what the Gov has to do with it. I know the FAA sent out the temporary flight restrictions because even I got one last week... simply because I have a registered drone.

I do know that the guy who is somehow in charge of something having to do with flight paths around PBI hates Trump... he used to be on the Palm Beach city council when Trump sued the city to allow Mar a Lago to have blacks and Jews as members. Trump has had a lawsuit against the city because this guy was routing flights over Mar A Lago to harass Trump. Trump dropped the lawsuit after he became president:

Or maybe he should stay in DC for a while. It’s hard to get those kicked in and out

"...with at least two of those having the unique experience of being buzzed by military jets,"

I was working on a contract in the DC area shortly after 9/11 and had the opportunity to witness a Cessna being "buzzed" by a pair of F-16s. Quite a sight to see the barrel rolls and other roller coaster-like maneuvers necessary by the jet pilots to maintain contact as they escorted the much slower Cessna to an airstrip not too far from where I was staying.

It happens. I know 2 pilots personally that violated Bush 2’s airspace in Texas early on. At the time it was not on the charts and they had failed to get a briefing before making a VFR flight which is a good idea but not a requirement.

One received a visit from the Secret Service open landing but no penalty the second receive a 6 month suspension of his certificate.

Unlike in the NE, the pilots in Florida aren’t used to worrying about TFR’s.. my guess... I’ll bet almost all were on their way to have a 100 dollar hamburger

Until they actually shoot some of them down the problem will simply get worse.........until one of them intentionally crashes into Trump’s aircraft or shoots into it.

The time has come to let all who ignore the laws to pay the penalty for even daring to circumvent it.

Typical of the FAA. Pilots must be mind readers and the government has no idea that we just sit around and do nothing but check every law immediately., Real ars holes. These are the same kind of real thinkers that pass as law saying no more homicides in America and they immediately stop.

Actually, TFRs over the past 8 years have gotten more confusing (ever read the text of one?), with obscure boundaries of circles, with confusing times, and often with updates where the boundaries shift. TFRs can pop up minutes prior to activation, due to last minute changes of plan of the VPOTUS/POTUS.

Penalties can be onerous if you are not 100% up to snuff - a buddy of mine bumped into a POTUS TFR, and got into VERY hot water for not having proof of a prior briefing (one can get tons on info without speaking to a briefer), rather than the actual entry, inadvertent as it is, of the TFR.

If anything, I hope the Trump FAA takes a new look at TFRs, from the perspective of cutting back on unnecessary regulations, and make them serve their purpose, only a great deal leaner than currently.

FAA and or AOPA send out notams of TFR whenever the head guy is going to be around.
Notams=notice to airmen
TFR=temporary flight restrictions
It is your responsibility to know and you WILL have the FAA up your rear if you fail to comply.
