Democrats call for special counsel during hearing for Sessions' would-be deputy
CNN (Certainly Not News!) ^ | 3/7/2017 | By Tom LoBianco, CNN

Washington (CNN)Democrats aren't finished with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and they're using the Senate confirmation hearing for his potential second in command as an opportunity to grill him on the Trump campaign's potential ties to Russia and the President's baseless claim of being wiretapped by his predecessor.

Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee pressed Rod J. Rosenstein, President Donald Trump's nominee for deputy attorney general, almost exclusively on the Russia investigation and whether Sessions told the truth in his own confirmation hearing when he said he had not met with any Russian officials.

Predicted by my timeline, here, to wit: "Led by Senator Charles Schumer, there will be slow-walking or stonewalling of the appointment of Deputy or Associate Attorney Generals that might be next in line after AG Sessions on any Russian investigation."

However, now the stakes are even higher.

They should read the histories of the Whig and Know Nothing parties.

CNN doesn’t say “unsubstantiated” or “there’s no evidence.” They are going to be the Democrat mouthpiece on this, along with the Wapo and the Slimes. They are doubling down. This is war. McConnell needs to act now.

So this was NOT Dana Boente, who was pushed down in the succession and replaced by a Holder/DC internal machine choice, a guy named Channing D. Phillips by obamaumao, and then Trump changed it all back to Boente. Or so i’d read.

Who is this guy? Really— Boente is Eastern District of VA Prosecuting Atty for Justice (the rocket docket of espionage cases in Fairfax federal C. H.)and apparently feared. Wrong?

Do you remember, way back in the good old days, when CNN didn't inject outright opinion into their news?......

......no?

Neither do I.

This is so rediculously obvious: Delay, delay, delay!

Get the Senate and House to adjourn long enough for President Trump to recess appoint EVERYONE still in the appointment queue.

Boente seems to have mixed leanings. He's got some Obama ties, but Obama cut him out of the prosecutorial loop by Executive Order.

On the whole, it probably wouldn't be wise to use someone beholden to Obama, no matter how much Obama didn't trust him.

OK— found it: “Effective February 9, 2017, Dana Boente became Acting Deputy Attorney General upon the confirmation and swearing in of Jeff Sessions as Attorney General and will serve in that position until DAG Nominee Rod Rosenstein is confirmed.”

This was because Sally Yates was canned after she refused to uphold Trumps immigration order-— so technically, there was a succession from Yates to Channing Phillips (the obama re-selection) that was changed by Trump to Boente... until Rosenstein is confirmed.

This is what I’d like Trump to be tweeting about. The people should ALL know about the stonewalling.

Thank you for bringing that up. TRUMP did act fast when it was discovered that Bark had finagled a dope of his a PERMANENT deputy, in the event of an AG not being able to serve.

Trump reversed it, pronto. Thx.

I still say Sessions should have recused himself ONLY when his deputy is confirmed. I think Sessions is still playing the DC game from the 1980’s....big mistake!!
