Don't Trust Those CBO Health Care Numbers
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 3/13/2017 | Staff

Health Reform: Democrats are no doubt gleeful that the Congressional Budget Office says the Republican health plan would leave 24 million more people uninsured by 2026. But there's no reason to rely on the CBO, since they were wildly off the mark in predicting how well ObamaCare would work.

Shortly before President Obama signed ObamaCare into law, the CBO announced its findings that the health reform would cut the deficit in the first decade by a modest $119 billion, and possibly slash them by a trillion dollars in the second decade.

The CBO also predicted that 23 million people would be enrolled in ObamaCare exchanges this year, and that the number of uninsured would have gone down by 30 million.

None of that came to pass.

Very informative piece. I do hope the hand wringing hysterics on this forum take the time to read this entire article.

BTW, I wonder how many of the “millions” who will lose coverage are either illegals or people who simply do not want to carry health insurance?

This isn’t about the CBO numbers, it’s about the crappy deal offered by Ryancare.

Harping on the CBO is Ryan’s excuse for the publics dislike of his pet project. He’s acting giddy, just like Obama did over Obamacare. If Ryancare is Obamacare lite, then Ryan is Obama lite.

It will probably save money as projected - and you are right, most of those "losing" coverage would be those opting out because the mandate would not be there.

Most of us think it sucks as it stands, but some of us also understand the reality of what it takes to wean people off the government teat - I'd wager that after 2-3 years of the proposed plan, there could be more modifications to disentangle more of government from the system.

The CBO was so far off on Obamacare it would take a day to drive to left field. The CBO are anything but non-partisan.

Word on the street is that it's 14 million.

Walk through the door that just opened.

It’s clear the Republicans are socialist same as the Democrats. Just admit that.

Leave obamacare in place until the last guy leaves. Those with pre-existing conditions go on Medicaid same as the poor.

Let folks deduct every penny of medical expenses, let any company create medical expense reimbursement plans, not just insurance companies. Expose congressional meetings with insurance lobbyists. Let things follow the natural course.

I can’t help but agree. Let 0bamacare die. Then replace it. Having cost increase for two years until we see saving? Anything can happen in 2 years to change that, this is Wimpy saying, I’ll pay you Tuesday for a cheeseburger today.

Work tax reform, keep that economic momo going.
Getting bogged down now in Healthcare is not going to get us anywhere. Get a few more wins under our belt. Complete the agency audits, cut the fat and put forth a real budget and get it passed. Then, take on healthcare..my opinion..

Democrats designed Obamacare to fail and be replaced by single payer. That’s why they are freaking out so much about Trumps victory ... Obamacare is set to fail but theRepublicans are in position to deal with it. Goodbye single payer.

For some, I think, it is all about identity.

If the bill is Trump’s, Trumpcare, it is brilliant and we must get behind it, unless we are traitors to the nation. If the bill is Ryan’s, Ryancare, it is bad and proves once again that the GOPe are just a bunch of socialists like the Democrats.

It’s easier if you define the two sides in play as “Trump” and “UniParty”. The UniParty includes Democrats and GOPe. Trump is most of America.
