Former Democratic Mayor of Fairfax, Va. Richard "Scott" Silverthorne pleaded guilty to a felony drug distribution charge on Monday. The former elected official was arrested in August on the charge according to USA Today.

Silverthorne was arrested on August 4 after selling $200 worth of methamphetamine to undercover officers in exchange for a group sexual encounter.

"We entered a plea of guilty today, because that's what the evidence would have shown," Silverthorne's attorney says

The ex-mayor will be held in custody until his sentencing hearing. The charge against him carries a maximum of a $500,000 fine and 40 years in prison.

Silverthorne was a substitute teacher in Fairfax County schools and served on the Fairfax City Council from 1990 until 2008 and again in 2011 before being elected mayor. Shortly before his arrest, Silverthorne won re-election for a third term as mayor. He resigned from office shortly after his August arrest.

Two other men were arrested on felony drug charges with Silverthorne during the undercover sting.

Atty Brian Drummond says “(Silverthorne) is most remorseful, & he has made that clear on a number of occasions.”

Memories of this fool...

From CNN.com, 2005

In 1990, the FBI busted Washington, D.C., Mayor Marion Barry for crack cocaine. Today, the 68-year-old self-proclaimed “mayor for life” is back in politics, serving on the D.C. City Council. ...

In January 1990 Barry’s political reign came to an abrupt halt when he was caught on video in an FBI sting operation smoking crack cocaine with a woman at the Vista Hotel. The incident — played over and over on cable television — produced what is perhaps the most memorable quote of Barry’s long career: “The bitch set me up.”

An Example Waiting to Be Made

Should Marion Barry go to jail for failing — yet again — to file his tax returns?

His last stint in the clink didn’t seem to have much of an impact on the former mayor. As recently as 2005, he tested positive for marijuana and cocaine use. And in 2002, U.S. Park Police said they found crack cocaine and pot in Barry’s Jaguar.

Bravo to Nick Bolger and the Free Beacon for ferreting out and drawing attention to this miscreant’s party affiliation — which the mainstream media failed to report. As a rule of thumb in cases of seamy misconduct by a current or former public official, the media mentions party affiliation if it is Republican but omits it if it is Democrat.

He sure is sorry,

that he got caught.

Being a member of the elite elect he’ll probably get off with a severe finger waging and a warning to not be caught next time.

Always.

In his “documentary” on Congress, leftwing slime Ken Burns did the same. refusing to mention the party affiliation of every Democratic politician who was pro-slavery, both before and after the Civil War.

This guy is such a perfect example of a Democrat elected official he should go into the Democrat Hall of Fame which would be in Chicago.

Interesting. The mayor looks like he thinks he can charm his way out of this, Fernandez looks resigned as if he’s been in trouble before and will tough this out again, but young McLaughlin looks like he’s realized he’s ruined his life and is going to cry.
