The structure and character of the federal government is largely the creation of Democrats. From Woodrow Wilson to FDR to LBJ to Barack Hussein Obama, every time progressive Democrats seize the presidency and Congress, they expand the size and scope of the central government. When Republicans recapture power, they are either unable or unwilling to roll back the Dems expansions. And so, the New Deal, the Great Society, and quite likely ObamaCare become permanent parts of government, and the Leviathan continues to grow.
Although Republicans have promised for years to repeal and replace ObamaCare, since the March 7 unveiling of their replacement plan we see division in their ranks. The replacement plan is called the American Health Care Act. But lets call it RyanCare. In its current form, RyanCare appears better than ObamaCare, (thats a low bar to clear). But RyanCare has some of the same problems as ObamaCare. Herein are two tweaks to improve the bill.
One of the big pluses of RyanCare is that it ends the mandates. The employer mandate is a huge drag on the economy and the individual mandate may be fascistic. But the reason the hated mandates were part of the ObamaCare is so insurance companies could accommodate guaranteed issue and community rating, which supposedly make it possible for pre-existing conditions to be covered. The idea was to enlarge the pool of policyholders with healthy young people so that the sickest among us could be paid for. RyanCare retains the two requirements: Prohibit health insurers from denying coverage or charging more money to patients based on pre-existing conditions.
Without the mandates, hows that going to work?

Here’s the 2 tweaks needed: Fire Ryan and put a real conservative in charge of the house then Repeal Obamacare.
I’d go for that.
Noobie: Isn’t that up to the voters of Wisconsin?
I’m sure you would, but like I said it’s up to the voters of Wisconsin, not to anyone else.
And if a state choses not to expand Medicaid to cover them? Nineteen states did not.
And I keep seeing that 14 million will be without health insurance after the repeal. Wouldn’t that apply to those who DO NOT WANT TO PURCHASE HEALTH INSURANCE?? The Left and it’s sycophant Media will twist every word to damage anything the Republicans try, to improve our lives. A POX on all their houses!
>Noobie: Isnt that up to the voters of Wisconsin?
Hey Rino, we own the house and we don’t need the disloyal, Lyin Ryan who won’t repeal Obamacare as speaker. He needs to be replaced by an actual conservative who will repeal Obamacare.
Firing Ryan as a Congresscritter is up to the voters of Wisconsin. Firing him as Speaker is up to the GOP in Congress - a different but still difficult question.
If you're talking about the CBO report, they do say that 14 million fewer people would have coverage next year and they do say that most of those will be people who choose not to buy insurance, either because they don't want it or because they can no longer afford the premiums. But the report goes on to say that the rest of the 21-plus million who do not have coverage by 2020 will be because the Medicaid expansion is done away with.
I’m pretty sure the implication was to fire him from his Speaker position—not from his sinecure in WI.
It would be interesting to me if someone, Robinson, say, start a poll here about what FRiends want: Outright repeal or repeal and replace.
They seem to forget that many businesses cut jobs to part time to avoid covering all employees.
Hero a tweak I’d like l see: Any healthcare provider who decides to treat someone with no ability to pay is forbidden by law from spreading the cost out to those who can pay.
>Im pretty sure the implication was to fire him from his Speaker positionnot from his sinecure in WI.
We can do both.
Unfortunately I think he is very safe in his seat—even if he gets booted from his Speakership. And as Kaslin correctly points out, that is more of a local decision.
Fire Ryan and put a real conservative in charge of the house then Repeal Obamacare.

Aye to that.
To fire him as speaker? No.. that can be done by the house republicans.
WI should ditch him. but we can get him out of the spot light by simply removing him from the speakership.
Is Ryan outnumbered?
You realize that what you request would require 60 votes in the Senate, which the Republicans do not have. So in effect what you are requesting is that Obamacare continue “as is” in perpetuity. That’s probably what you want. Is mean Paul Ryan taking your welfare away?
