Darren Rainey spent two hours locked in a shower inmates at the Dade Correctional Institute said prison guards left set to scalding hot before dying of the injuries caused by the water. Rainey's skin was peeling off when he was removed from the shower. Inmates say he was screaming to be let out before he died, and that guards regularly used extremely hot and cold showers to punish mentally ill patients. Nearly five years later, in a report released Friday, the state's attorney has ruled that there was no criminal conduct by the guards.
In her ruling, Katherine Fernandez Rundle said, according to the Miami Herald, that John Fan Fan, a sergeant, and the officers involved in getting Rainey into the shower, Ronald Clarke, Cornelius Thompson, and Edwina Williams, didn't act with premeditation, malice, recklessness, ill-will, hatred or evil intent. The officers involved were eventually promoted after the incident.

This is a case where I would support federal civil rights intervention
we had that too but the maintenance guy could adjust it with a valve he carried in his pocket. One post said they did this regularly hot and cold showers, so a correctional officer must have been able to adjust the temp.
I wasn't at the trial so I didn't hear the testimonies of the witnesses or the coroner.
If the guards were found innocent, then there was obviously evidence to the contrary that this reporter wasn't privy to.
With that being said, I play softball with a retired prison guard who has stories you wouldn't believe. But all of them have the basic theme, inmates will lie to their own mother if she is a guard on their floor...........
My friend's number one advice to a new guard whenever an inmate asks for a favor, it's to answer NO.

Well, that is a different story assuming it is true. There are quite a number of heinous criminals that needed killing years ago. How long did Jeff Dahmer last?

I agree if that is the real story, but our prisons are filled with heinous criminals that should have been euthanized years ago. Consider the mass murderers that our glorious past president let go.

Obama irresponsibly and cynically fanned the flames. But I blame the media. A large segment of cops have been running wild for over a decade but the media ONLY reports on it when there's a racial angle. So, naturally BLM thinks it's all racial and conservatives think it's all lefties' paranoia and cop hating. So, a serious problem is being ignored because the MSM paints us all into little boxes.
If these guards were white, it would be on the news channels 24/7.
