The mentioned this in the segment, although they framed it as an issue that Trump took up only because it "resonated" with the American worker. And they had to get in a jab by saying that Trump hired fashion models under H-1B visas.

The segment can be seen here, and the part that mentions Trump starts at 9:15.

This is a really bad problem and it doesn’t matter who shines light on it. SeeBS is better than Fox in this regard. Speaking of Fox did you EVER hear them talk about H-1B visa abuse? NO! Why” Because Fox News rides the Cheap Labor Express. How about Limbaugh? Never heard him mention it.

Fashion models come in for a shoot and are gone the next day.

That’s just juvenile.

U. S. models travel around the world too. Who knew?

Thanks for the link.

I guess that when the models are working out of an agency here, they may stay for a while. They may not too.

They may be hired by the agency for a shoot, do it, and leave.

What Trump was addressing is the growing number of full time career employees being shafted by their employers, for cheap foreign labor.

The media loves to provide evidence of something Trump did, that doesn’t actually represent the same sort of thing he was addressing.

Some folks won’t get it. They’ll think Trump is a hypocrite, which exactly what the Clinton show is all about.

I call it the Clinton show, since it was so dedicated to creating and supporting the Clinton Crime family.

One thing I was waiting for them to mention (but they didn’t) is that foreign workers in these programs often fake their degrees and experience.

Neither of you understand how deeply the brain drain goes in this country. When up to one third of babies are aborted per year since 1973, that is how many babies? The roughest, lowest estimate is 44,000,000 and the higher and probably more reliable figure is 55,000,000.

So, what happens? It has to be disguised. Elementary school in cities of any size begin to empty (which by the late 1970s was one indicator that the population was shrinking), so bills are passed and signed which allow for HB-1 workers and laws are ignored which allow illegals into our country "to do the jobs Americans refuse to do." Right now, the elementary schools in cities of any size are filled with mostly Hispanic children.

In passing Roe v. Wade the Supreme Court created an artificial brain-drain. It has been successful because people today, for the most part, can make no connection from the intended elimination of up to 55,000,000 American citizens and the fact that the importation of workers seems to be an "ideal" solution to the "unknown" problem.

I did some research in college where I looked at companies which flourished in the 1950s that had to completely change gears by the late 1970s because there were substantially less babies for their products. Gerber and Schwinn were two that I looked at. Gerber went into the whole life market to help stay afloat. And until the biking-racing craze look place, Schwinn was not going and blowing.

If you think of 55,000,000 babies being aborted, don't either of you think that that in itself just might have some untoward effects regarding jobs in America?

Here is a reality check - look at this population list of the 100 most populous cities in America. The entire population of the 100 most populous cities is about 57,000,000:

Most Populous Cities in America as of 2016

I not going to let your position on abortion justify the importation of foreigner to reduce American’s standard of living. Abortion is evil and so is globalism.

And you have not seen the wave of guest worker BAs?

I don’t agree with your premise that communication is more important in a BA than a developer.

As often as not, BAs just add to the chaos.

agreed on all points

> mainframes of the 1980s ran all day long w/o problems

more like years!

> Why I retired from IT. Windows & Outsourcing. Used to be fun

The thing is, there’s no substitute for a good American developer, and management has attempted to get rid of us for a long time, and that’s really bad for the US.

We hired a Programming outfit from the subcontinent once and it worked great(cheap) until one of them told a VP to “shut up” during a meeting. Hilarious.

Well, did he shut up?

In the comments, pay attention to what @hoapres has to say. He’s usually spot on.

Then they are not doing it right. And yes, I’ve seen that too.

If I could sum up the BA role in one sentence, it would be this: We deal with the ambiguity so others don’t have to.

Fact is, SOMEONE has to nail down what the client actually NEEDS and document it in such a way that the developers have a CLEAR understanding of what success will look like. That is the BA value add. And BA’s need to be able to speak the language of the business and IT. They are also, in a very real way, using sales and marketing skills in their job - something in which I’ve had extensive training and success.

Yes and no. This segment does give CBS News a way to bash Trump. But... Trump did go to the Orlando area during the primary season & did have the Disney IT workers on stage. Trump did mention doing something about visa work programs at that time.

What bothered me about the whole thing is the media said little to nothing about this the whole time Obama was in office, but now they run it like it’s something new....

A good BA is a great person to have. Good ones are about as rare as good developers.
