Comey won't commit to investigating Obama officials over Flynn leaks

FBI Director James Comey declined to say Monday whether his team has launched an investigation into the leaks that led to former White House national security advisor Mike Flynn's ouster.

Comey was pressed by Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., to say whether he could confirm such an investigation is taking place, but Comey said he could not because it might confirm that classified information was leaked.

"I can't, but I hope people watching know how seriously we take leaks of classified information," he said during Monday's hearing on Russia's influence on the election. "But I don't want to confirm it by saying that we're investigating it."

Trump’s not stupid. Is there a reason we don’t know why he’s keeping him for now?

I think there may be two reasons that Trump did not fire Comey at the beginning.

First, and most probable, was that he wanted the incoming Attorney General to have a say on the replacement. Trump may have not been willing to perform the due diligence required to locate the right person for the job.

Second, and highly speculative, Trump may have concluded that the incoming Attorney General may want to find out what was going on in the last administration; e.g., the Clinton Foundation investigation. It is a lot easier to call in "employee" Comey for answers than it is to issue a subpoena. So keep Comey on the job until you find out what you need to know; at least all that Comey is willing to reveal.

For starter’s Reuter’s has an article out today featuring Russians who own a total of $98 Million worth of condos spread over 7 properties in South Florida which DJ Trump either build, helped sell or lent his Trump name to as late as 2011 0r 2012. The “meat” of the article is, of course, the Russians! Who are they and what’s their “real” connection to Trump?

It can’t be merely a real estate purchase! Why, hell no! Too many damn Russians! Too much money involved!

Any "serious" investigation of the former administration would most likely implicate most of the current federal agencies, excluding Trump's team.

Do you really think 'they' are going to go there? Nice to think about but I am afraid it is not going to happen. No one is going to implicate themselves including Comey.

The popular excuse for Clinton not winning back during the election was the email investigation by Comey being on again off again on again regarding Clintons email scandals. Now it’s the Russians connection to Trump. What happened to the dims being pissed at Comey over the emails? It may be a good time for Trump to get rid of Comey and just say to the libs he didn’t like the way Hillary was treated over her emails. That may shut them up.
