In 2015, two Princeton University economists published a landmark paper showing that mortality was rising for white middle-aged Americans after decades of decline, a startling development for an economically advanced nation.
Now a new analysis from the same pair, released Thursday by the Brookings Institution, paints an even bleaker picture of the nation’s largest-population group.
Mortality has been rising since the turn of this century for an even broader swath of white adults, starting at age 25, the researchers found, driven by troubles in a hard-hit working class. Death rates for white non-Hispanics with a high-school education or less now exceed those of blacks overall, the pair said—and they’re 30% higher for whites age 50 to 54 than for blacks overall of that age.

I’m shocked. I mean, given how Whitey is blamed day in and day out for all of injustice to mankind...
Now, if the working class could just quietly go on the dole, sit on their stoops and smoke dope and do all those of certain other ethnicities, whom it isn't polite to name, do, then then this situation would reverse or, at least, get no worse than those other groups.
A steady diet of vilification will do that.

This will take some time to digest and I'm not yet convinced it is worth that process. It is written from an academic perspective. Shows a bias toward those who don't have higher education degree, and speaks of income redistribution as a policy to affect the higher death rate.
I skimmed it to the point where this was said:
“Our model for each outcome is then written as”
Followed by an equation filled with subscript and postscript making it difficult to accurately reproduce in HTML without resorting to embedding an image from appropriate publishing software.
It is one thing to study death rates and question why. It is quite another to decide to base policy decisions on an equation. And pretend to be empowered to dictate a solution.
Note: I have a degree, I respect it's value. I do not like the typical academic's perspective on how smart they are. I am more comfortable with business people who build things and do things.
These are “social scientists”.
The title could say, “Birth rates rise for a wide swath of white people post WWII”.
They’re called “baby boomers”...they’re now in their 70’s and 80’s...they’re now nearing their age of life expectancy.
It took a university to figure this out?

It’s a liberal group that put this out. No doubt the results were known for years but they waited until a Republican was president to publish.
This first came out in 2015.
