President Trump is unafraid of a possible government shutdown, White House staffers communicated to conservative leaders during a meeting on Wednesday, according to a source in the room.
According to the source in the room, White House staffers told attendees that Trump doesn’t see much downside to a shutdown and believes congressional Democrats will bear full responsibility if one does occur.
A White House official speaking on background confirmed that the issue of whether the president is unafraid of a shutdown was raised at the meeting, and confirmed that staffers communicated the president’s commitment to funding the border wall

Sounds like CYA BS. He’d be fighting for that wall funding if he wasn’t worried about the shutdown. No other reason to put it off.

Most “normal” people see a shutdown as a good thing and just want to know “how long?”
Maybe he will pull back the curtain on the myth of government shutdowns and tell the people what really happens and how everyone who gets a few days off gets paid anyway.
He needs to put out that employees will not receive back pay in the event of a shutdown. Also the agency heads will be keeping track of which employees are considered non-essential

The government never truly shuts down. Some functions are not part of that. If the commie democrats want to do that, well let them. It will be on their heads. No backpay should be allowed! If they are going to be obstructionists, let them experience the effect of their causes!

Uh... no. That's exactly what he should NOT do. You don't want millions of retirees from the gubmint, Social Security recipients, or disabled people, most of whom the last two survive hand-to-mouth on that little check. Something like that would stick in their memories for years and years.
No, the people who take care of the checks, the military (Including Coast Guard), Border Patrol, and other essential law enforcement personnel would need to keep working. Just shut down the non critical parts of the gubmint which I think is what already happens in the case of a gov shutdown. Heck; I'd even keep the DC monument parks open and many of the national parks. They need constant supervision anyway.
The big question is do those non essential gov workers have to use up their vacation pay in order to get paid or do they not get paid or can something like sick pay be used. No one likes to see innocent people caught up in the crossfire of gov BS. They have bills to pay and families to feed just like anyone else even if those families are a pack of dogs or other animals on a small ranch or something.
I don’t know about not paying the hundreds of thousands of current non essential gov workers but Congress, both the House and Senate, should forfeit any pay for all days the gov is shut down.
They should force the dems to shut the gov down. The dems did it to us last time. Turnabout is fair play and make sure the people know it’s because of people like Pelosi and Schumer on the left. Broadcast their obstructionism from every speaker in the land!

I said 3 days ago Trump will demand what he wants, and he will get it.
Nobody on the planet believes he’s bluffing.
He will veto any spending bill he doesn’t like. His way or nothing.
Obama set the precedent...hell, he set the standard on how to wield executive power and it’s not lost on Trump.
