Top Dems Call For Anti-War Congresswoman To Be Ousted
The Daily Caller ^ | 04/10/2017 | Alex Pfeiffer

Top Democrats are not pleased that Hawaii Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard pushed the U.S. to collect and release evidence from the scene of the chemical attack in Syria.

Gabbard visited Syria and met with President Bashar al-Assad in January and has been consistently cautious about American involvement in the Middle Eastern county. The Hawaii congresswoman said in a statement that the airstrikes on Syria were “short-sighted and will lead to more dead civilians, more refugees, the strengthening of al-Qaida and other terrorists, and a possible nuclear war between the United States and Russia.”

She also said she has not seen enough evidence that Assad was behind the chemical attack that led to the death of dozens of civilians. Gabbard said an investigation was necessary before responding, and that “if President Assad is found to be responsible after an independent investigation for these horrific chemical weapons attacks, I’ll be the first one to call for his prosecution and execution by the International Criminal Court.” U.S. officials have maintained Syria was responsible for the attack as radar showed Syrian warplanes in the area during the incident.

A high-profile Democratic congresswoman says she met with Assad on her secret trip to Syria
(Jan. 25, 2017)
http://www.businessinsider.com/tulsi-gabbard-assad-syria-2017-1

A high-profile Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii said she met with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad during a secret “fact-finding” trip she took to the country recently.

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, of Hawaii, told CNN on Wednesday that when she went to the country earlier this month she initially hadn’t planned on meeting with Assad. But when CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Gabbard if she met with the authoritarian ruler, she answered, “I did.”

...Gabbard was in Syria for four days. The nonprofit Arab American Community Center for Economic and Social Services (AACCESS)–Ohio sponsored the trip, according to Gabbard’s statement...

Gabbard has been a vocal opponent of the Obama administration’s calls for Assad to relinquish power. On December 8, she introduced to Congress the Stop Arming Terrorists Act, which would prohibit the US government from funding or arming extremist groups like Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, Al Qaeda, and ISIS...

Truth is now treason. Asking for the truth joins one with the enemy, according to the neocons.

This tactic worked with Iraq. Will it work with Syria? Who knows. Many of us are laughing at the propagandists and their recycled neocon pablum this time around.

Prosecution and execution by the ICC.
Really? Standing?
Assad will “fart in her general direction” [as he should].

Off to THE HAGUE!

IIRC, she went on the trip after meeting with President Trump.

I assumed he sent her on a fact-finding mission.

Yes, Gabbard met with Trump many times and I believe that’s the real reason why top dems want her out.

We have no reason to be doing anything with Syria.

The entirety of the Middle East is not worth the bones and blood of one American enlisted man nor a single taxpayer dollar.

Support Israel, let the rest of them kill each other.

When she stepped down from the No. 2 position in the DNC to support Sanders, the Hillary clan did not like that one bit.

She’s got guts and principles, believe me.

I know she met with Trump at least once. I think this President needs to bring Tulsi and her kind on board sooner rather than later.

While he’s at it, recruit Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, and other good conservative women who actually want to return us to greatness, instead of pushing their own socialist projects.

It appears that Gabbard does not suffer from groupthink. I predict a rising democrat amongst the rank and file.

So she’s being pilloried for being skeptical wanting to see evidence? Now she knows how it feels to be a global warming skeptic.

Since the Viet Nam war we have let politicians guide the war and set the Rules of Engagement. Oddly, we haven’t won a war since then, either. We have professional warriors who have been hired to fight our wars. For God’s sake, let them run the war. Sometimes huge civilian losses (Hiroshima) actually ends up saving lives because it ends an otherwise protracted war. For me, Sally Do-gooder ends up pulling the bandage off over a period of years, where our Generals end it quickly with one stout yank.

Neera Tanden, head of the Center for American Progress, and former Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean both responded to Gabbard’s comments with outrage.

Top Dems? Really?

The Hawaii congresswoman said in a statement that the airstrikes on Syria were “short-sighted and will lead to more dead civilians, more refugees, the strengthening of al-Qaida and other terrorists, and a possible nuclear war between the United States and Russia.”

I'm worried about some of this too (the US and Russia will not be engaging in a nuclear war over Syria, of all places). But as long as the airfield strike is as far as it goes - a shot across the bow of Assad and Putin - and there's no escalation of US involvement, things should settle down soon.

As with Iraq, if we depose Assad, we will take on the responsibility of replacing him with something better and then making sure that "something better" isn't deposed by Al-Qaida or ISIS. Assad is a monster, but most of the people he's fighting are even worse. Putin has been dumb enough to get bogged down in Syria in an effort to pretend that Russia is a great power - good, let them deal with this. We need to stay out of it.

Just yesterday I think, we were discussing this Representative. She is what the Dems need if they are to have a future, but they won’t allow her to threaten their machine. Good for her in the long run to go somewhere else. Bad for the Dems, which is good for everyone else.
