Nation’s first public needle vending machine for drug users debuts in Las Vegas

Las Vegas health officials are turning to a familiar piece of equipment – the vending machine – into a first-in-the-nation experiment to automate the dispensing of clean needles for intravenous drug users.

The program is a joint effort between the Southern Nevada Health District, the Nevada AIDS Research and Education Society and the private Trac-B Exchange company, which developed the machine. The idea is that making clean needles and other gear available will reduce the spread of bloodborne infections among drug users who would otherwise share the injection rigs.

Considering you can kill a person in seconds with a needle and syringe, I’m not thinking this is a particularly good idea.

Reminds me of when they started putting up condom vending machines.

Guy walks out of the bathroom saying “that chewing gum tastes horrible!”

A much more better and compassionate solution would be to designate a tropical island with room for millions and let them harvest poppies and their own food.

Just get the ones that insist on living a “free” life on our dime to the island. They live, they shoot up, they die.

Problem solved and it’s even liberal.

The threat of jail hasn't worked. It's worth a try. A laboratory of democracy at work.

I predict that this lunatic LIEberal idea will not end well!

My first thought was that some lowlife scumbag carrying a life-threatening disease around in his/her waste-of-skin body will use the needle to infect an innocent passer-by.

What would you do if when walking through the Mall some dirtbag jabbed you in the butt with a used, dirty needle?

It WILL happen!

Then what?

Great idea. I propose Baffin Island. Wait, too cold. North Sentinel Island would be better. Drop them off, everything solved; they can grow their heroin and serve themselves up as dinner to the indigenous headhunters.
