Ann Coulter Weighs in on Syria: ‘Assad Is One of the Better Leaders’
IJR ^ | 04/13/2017 | Adam Pribila

In a particularly divisive interview Wednesday night on “Tucker Carlson Live,” conservative pundit and provocateur Ann Coulter shared her opinion on the escalating situation in Syria:

“It's very hard to explain the Syrian attack, it's certainly not a vital national security interest, we generally don't at least conservatives don't go rushing around the world for humanitarian reasons. For that region of the world, Assad is one of the better leaders, there are probably only one or two better than him.”

Coulter then claimed that the Syrian dictator wasn't quite “a Saddam Hussein murderous thug,” saying that Assad helped the U.S. after 9/11 by giving us relevant intelligence.

From there the conservative firebrand went on to lob some rather heavy words at the liberal media. When asked by Carlson why she thinks the enthusiasm to see the U.S. involved in a foreign war hasn't lessened in light of recent events, Coulter opined that “for the left, and therefore the media, I think it is identical to wanting to dump the entire third world on our country. They want to destroy America.”

According to Coulter, the “best Americans” are being sent off to war, and if we continue in that fashion it will “deplete this country.” Not only are the wars not beneficial to Americans, according to Coulter, but they aren't always in the best interest of the other parties involved, either.

“Well then the new tribe comes in, they are always much more brutal than the last tribe and they hate us even more,” the conservative pundit claimed. “Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Iran: How many times do we have to see that this isn't working?”

The fact is that CIA meddling in overthrowing governments often ends in a worse situation.

I can’t speak to the Assad situation.

What I do know is that it is not beyond the realm for the CIA to concoct whatever they can to justify the overthrow of a leader.

History proves it.

It is also not beyond the realm that someone in the Deep State convinced Trump that intel was real. Not saying that happened because I couldn’t possibly know.

Just saying it could happen.

Btw, many here don’t pay attention to things that have happened in the past because it doesn’t interest them.

I went back and revisited some stuff that happened in Indonesia to overthrow Sukarno. I was struck at the playbook and how one part loosely resembled what happened to Trump with Mccain’s dossier.

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

All these muslim countries require a strong man to run them because of the nature of the religion and the behavior of the people under it. Assad is much better than what would come with his replacement unless a major country stays and forces good behavior.

As far as muslim country rulers go, Assad is not bad and did not genocide whole religions that did not believe as him. Yes, he would be a horrible ruler in the West. Nothing good will result in his removal unless Russia, NATO or the US stays there for 75 years.

You’re reaching, Ann.

This is true and a good post.

I don’t know whether he really used chemical weapons. So much conflicting info on that. When we first bombed Syria there was reports from Haley and Tillerson that we were going to have Assad removed.

They have kind of backed off that and said they will leave it to the will of the people, etc.

What I do know is the regime change there is going to be an unknown entity. Christians will probably lose.

> Assad is much better than what would come with his replacement...<

I think both you and Coulter are correct. Some folks are making the argument that Assad has to go because - among other things - he supports Hezbollah.

Well guess what. If Assad goes, Hezbollah will end up ruling Syria on their own. Yes, Assad might be replaced by a “moderate” government at first. But then Hezbollah (or the like) will sweep that moderate government away.

Just like the Bolsheviks swept away the moderate government that replaced the Tsar.

Has Coulter forgotten recent history? Assad’s slaughtered tens of thousands of his own people just like Saddam. Starting to think Ann has an illness.

And if Hezbollah runs Syria, Iran runs Syria, with the majority Shia Iraqi population in the middle.

While I have the greatest respect for Ann I have to disagree with her on this point. After years of 0bama it was important to establish absolutely the negative consequences associated with crossing the red line. I suspect little fat boy in NK is too stupid to understand what all this means and his fate will cement once and for all not to cross America while Trump is President.

Peace through strength...

OK, attack supporters — explain how you can be so sure that none of Syria’s chemical weapons (probably smuggled in from Iraq) fell into anti-Assad hands. Aren’t we obliged to have some hard evidence of this before we attack an anti-ISIS government that had attacked neither us nor its neighbors? You have the evidence? Let’s see it. Sorry, “Trump and McCain believe it to be true” is not good enough.

A sarin gas attack ordered by Assad killed at least 74 people — including 16 women and 23 children — and wounded over 350. A few hours later, Syrian warplanes launched another airstrike on one of the medical clinics where victims of the first attack were being treated.

And we, who went after the weapons in the middle east that did this type of torture, are supposed to say that this animal is a good leader. She needs to take her medication. This is a stupid statement. And if anyone has ever seen what a sarin gas reaction looks like, they’d be horrified that she could even consider him a leader. But he could be if he kills all his country’s people.

Ann Coulter only dates rich, liberal men...

It’s her way or the highway and if you don’t think like her, she doesn’t like you...

I have read a couple of her books, muh...I wasn’t impressed...

Did you read Coulter’s “Adios, America”? I highly recommend this book. The left has hated her for a long time because she had dared to say thing that we are not supposed to say. Her pro-life views seems to have gotten some here upset.

Oh, know not again. Just when she’s fought back to regain our confidence in her, she writes this exposing that she is truly a light weight.

Ann, this was a message sent to several countries out there. Do we have to name them for you?

The fact that we pulled this off, ie got through the Russian counter defense missiles, sends a message to every living tin pot ruler out there.
