Spicer Slams Media: Dems Didn’t ‘Almost Win’ in Georgia, ‘They Lost’

During Wednesday’s White House briefing, NBC reporter Hallie Jackson asked if President Trump was “expending too much political capital on a race that Republicans should be winning easily,” referring to Georgia’s special congressional election. In response, Press Secretary Sean Spicer blasted the absurd liberal media narrative that it was a “symbolic” or “emotional” victory for Democrats despite their candidate falling short.

"“I thought that some of the coverage was a little intriguing as I watched it....Democrats went all in on this race. They spent over $8.3 million. They said on the record that their goal was to win this race. They lost. And the reaction has somewhat been, you know, that they almost won. No, they lost,” Spicer declared.

Spicer Slams Media: Dems Didn’t ‘Almost Win’ in Georgia, ‘They Lost'

Jackson interjected by pointing to the upcoming runoff between Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican Karen Handel in June: “Technically there’s still two months left though, right?” Spicer pushed back: “No, not in terms of what their stated goal was. They said that their goal last night was to win the race with over 50%....They didn’t run for a runoff, they ran to win last night, and they lost.”

He lectured the journalists in the room: “And so, anything sort of describing that as a loss is – is sort of inconceivable to me in the sense that that’s literally what they said their goal was to do....They put all the money that they had in there, they put all the firepower, and they came up short. So, it’s a loss.” Jackson interjected by pointing to the upcoming runoff between Democrat Jon Ossoff and Republican Karen Handel in June: “Technically there’s still two months left though, right?” Spicer pushed back: “No, not in terms of what their stated goal was. Here is a transcript of Spicer’s April 19 exchange with Jackson:

12:36 PM ET

(...)

HALLIE JACKSON: I want to ask about GA – Georgia 6th here. Two quick ones on that. Is the President planning to campaign for the Republican challenger there? Will he go to Georgia to get out the vote?

SEAN SPICER: I don't know. If needed, I think the President’s going to make sure that he does everything he can to maintain majorities and further the party. But we’ll see if we’re needed.

JACKSON: Is he expending too much political capital on a race that Republicans should be winning easily?

SPICER: Well, you know, it’s interesting. I thought that some of the coverage was a little intriguing as I watched it. Suddenly – the Democrats went all in on this race. They spent over $8.3 million. They said on the record that their goal was to win this race. They lost. And the reaction has somewhat been, you know, that they almost won. No, they lost. They made very clear what their goal was in this race. They spent $8.3 million and threw everything, including the kitchen sink, at it and lost. And so –

JACKSON: Technically there’s still two months left though, right?

SPICER: No, not in terms of what their stated goal was. They said that their goal last night was to win the race with over 50%. They spent $8.3 million. They didn’t run for a runoff, they ran to win last night, and they lost. And so, anything sort of describing that as a loss is – is sort of inconceivable to me in the sense that that’s literally what they said their goal was to do. And they said, “We want to win Tuesday night with over 50%.” They came up short of their goal. They put all the money that they had in there, they put all the firepower, and they came up short. So, it’s a loss.

“In what sense did they lose?”

In the sense that they knew if they did not get over 50% last night they most likely would not win this seat. Karen is pro-life like most of the district.

“Handel doesn’t have a lot of margin for error.”

She has ample margin for error and will win by double digits.

Maybe you should look into how similar special elections have turned out in the past. This is not exactly rocket science or unprecedented.

The republicans were focused on beating each other and Ossoff had no opposition. Now that will change.

Ossoff is an empty suit, amateur filmmaker, resident of Washington DC trying to win in a very conservative district. Just watch how that will turn out.

Let’s see.....well, $8M “Hollywood” money, $2M DNC money, another $2M of “Pajama Boy, Ossoff’s money, and the unending march of Hollywood leftie, Democrat Low Life did not do the trick for sad sack Obama, Democrat, Pajama Boy John Ossoff....so in the upcoming runoff...we need more Democrat horsepower to defeat Republican, Karen Handel!!!

So.....IMHO, let’s send in fugitive, ex-POTUS, Barack Hussein Obama, Katy Perry, shoe saleswoman, Hillary Clinton, Congresswoman, Maxine “Impeach Trump” Waters, Nutcase Senator, Elizabeth Warren, Buffoon, Bernie Sanders, Serial lie teller, Susan Rice, and Obama House Tender, Valerie Jarrett, etc.

Yep.......folks....this impressive lineup of Democrat, screw-ups will surely carry the day for Pajama Boy Ossoff, come the June runoff election!!! Go POTUS, Donald J. Trump!!!

GOP got more votes.

GOP: 97,997

Dem: 93,911

There were 11 GOP candidates running. Now it’s just one, Karen Handel, against Ossoff. I can sense Ossoff’s campaign is losing steam, alot of grumbling among Dems. Looks like a win for Handel in June.

Ossoff had to win without a run-off. He didn’t.

From the past: Coach Vince Lombardi stated: “Second place is the first loser.”

Democrats: We didn’t win the Presidency, but we’re sure as hell going to win some meaningless house seat in Georgia! See! We’re winners, just like you horrible Trump people! This will prove everyone hates Trump and you suck!

[Democrats don’t win house seat]

Democrats: Well, we didn’t win the house seat... but we came REALLY close, and that’s what matters and we almost won and some day we will win and so THERE, you horrible loser Trump people because you STILL suck and we hate you!

They’ve gone from deluded to deluded and childish to childish and moronic (and STILL deluded). What a bunch of pathetic cretins.

Whatever happened to decent Democrats like congressman Larry McDonald, James Traficant, Gene Taylor (sp?)? Are *any* of these new, modern Dems not anti-Christian, anti-gun, pro-Sodom metrosexuals???

Any Democrat who says that this counts as a “win” or that their candidate actually represents the constituents of this district, is lying their Ossoff ...

Listened to them today and all I heard was contempt for the American middle class.

Today they said “If you are not in the donor class, you are a moron and you believe what we tell you no matter how asinine it is. We are your superiors.”

I’d say they are evil cretins.

And Ossoff doesn’t automatically get 48%, especially if the Republicans come out in normal numbers to vote.

“Let’s not kid ourselves — the huge Republican circular firing squad nearly blew it. The Democrats do teamwork far better than the Republicans.”

For sure. That’s why Hillary won the presidency and the rats control Congress. Whatever you’re smoking, popping or injecting, stop, fool.

Somebody please help me. How did Trump spend any political capital on this race?

I have a hard time with the term anyway.

Political Capital is a term the media uses to determine how much time a party will spend on a topic.

Unlimited Capital is a term I will tell the media Trump has.

They are attacking fronts that do not exist. The Dems are in complete attack mode and they are being defeated.

Montana getting into their war is the next one.

They are unhinged and will go down without much effort.

One of the examples was over 8mil spent by Hollywood vs 75,000 by Handel in GA.

They must now dump another 10mil just to watch him lose.

The Ryan lead Republican House sucks, yet the Democrats still can't win.

That's how I look at it.

The best I can tell Trump did three Tweets and a recorded phone message. It couldn’t have taken more than 10 minutes of his time, and I don’t see how he traded anything politically.

I think it’s another case of the press being dishonest, corrupt and biased as usual.
