Delta Employees Asked Man to Leave Flight After Using Restroom, Videos Shows

A passenger was allegedly removed off a Delta flight from Atlanta to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, after he used a restroom as the plane taxied for takeoff, according to a series of videos posted to YouTube and a blogpost from the passenger who filmed them.

The man, identified as Kima Hamilton by NBC News affiliate TMJ4, was a passenger aboard Delta Flight 2035 when the April 18 incident took place.

Hamilton said he had an urgent need to use the bathroom, and after a 30-minute delay on the tarmac, ran to the back of the aircraft to use the restroom, according to a blog entry by fellow passenger Krista Rosolino.

Rosolino wrote that Hamilton was in the restroom for "less than a minute," and returned to his seat when it was announced the plane was returning to the gate to have a passenger removed.

"Everyone was shocked — what could have happened?" Rosolino wrote. "[Hamilton] quickly spoke up and apologized, saying he thought it was him, and he explained to those of us nearby what had happened."

Rosolino told NBC News because of the recent news of passengers being pulled off flights, as soon as it was announced the plane was returning to the gate, everyone became concerned.

When the flight arrived back at the gate, a Delta employee boarded and told Hamilton to get his things and follow him off the aircraft. That's when Rosolino began filming.

The employee begins to ask Hamilton to leave the aircraft again to "discuss the scenario." But Hamilton, still calm but appearing frustrated, asks what else there is to discuss.

"In that environment I'm at their mercy," Hamilton told TMJ4. "I'm a paying customer, but I have no say.

I can sympathize. I took a flight with my elderly mom who had to use the restroom so bad I truly believed she was at the point where she could no longer hold it. The flight attendants were unrelenting. My mom managed to hold it barely long enough before being given permission to use the restroom but she was in great discomfort.

Dang —> “Once off the plane, Hamilton was refunded half the price for his ticket and repurchased a ticket more than three times the price on Southwest Airlines, according to TMJ4. Delta was unable to get his luggage off their flight, and Hamilton was asked to pick it up in Milwaukee.”

"...Don't. Even. Leave. The. Airport..."

The article indicates the aircraft was taxiing prior to takeoff.

Sorry, but I’m not sure what that has to do with anything?

... I truly believed she was at the point where she could no longer hold it.

When this occurs, there is trauma to the bladder. I presume and hope that there was no long-term damage.

I've held things on the long side, and have had issues for many hours in that "department".

I cannot imagine a scenario where a Southwest flight was three times the cost of a Delta coach flight.

Did. Not. happen.

there may also be more to the story.

I have flown X million miles commercially. Folks do sometimes go to the restroom at the wrong times, especially during/ after a delay ... after pushback.

If this guy waited until they were moving on an active taxiway, in motion, then the flight CANNOT legally take off. And just deciding to stop and wait for a passenger is NOT the captain’s choice.

Lots more to understand here.

One time I drank a pint of beer before boarding an airplane. I swear I will never do that again.

And if he had an ‘accident’ in his seat he still would have been thrown off because of fouling the seat with contaminants. Yep. Either way he would have lost.

An easy inference, accurate or not, is that certain members of the public, more so than others, exhibit entitlement behavior — “you can’t tell me what to do.”

I don’t know if that’s what he meant or not.

It’s rational as an inference.
