Toward the end of his comic opus on the press, politics and President Trump, the “Daily Show” comedian Hasan Minhaj looked out at the hundreds of journalists gathered in a subterranean hotel ballroom here on Saturday night and declared, “This has been one of the strangest events I have ever done in my life.”
The lengthy laughter and applause that followed made clear that he was not the only one who thought that way.
No one knew quite what to expect at this year’s edition of the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, the chummy Washington ritual that became a flash point over press freedom in a year when the White House and its correspondents are anything but friendly. The president skipped the event. Celebrities stayed away. Comedians turned down the gig.
But even as Mr. Trump heckled the proceedings in real time — joking at a Pennsylvania rally about reporters’ “consoling each other in a Washington ballroom” — attendees said the often-frivolous dinner felt oddly profound. They need "therapy" and "pep rallies" so they can bash the President? And they wonder why he didn't show up at their self-absobed pity party?

If they would take the time to get out of their bubble they may find that many think that in fact they do make up “fake” news, and if they looked at the decline of newspapers they would see they are in fact in a failing business, and if they were honest with themselves they would know they hate themselves because they are white and raised in middle class homes, and the only way they can cope with that fact is to hate white middle class Americans.
President Trump was smart to avoid this DemoRat fest and instead enjoyed the rally in PA for his Saturday night outing.
So, in other words, headline is “Spurned Media Holds Event Meaningless To Everyone Other Than Them; Puts It Out Next Day As Headline News.”

There was a time, long, long ago, when that was probably true, but not today!
If they were honest with themselves they would know WE hate them.
My father always told me that when people tell you what they are, they aren’t. When the media has to defend itself like this, you better believe they trying to convince people, and maybe themselves, they are the opposite of what they perceive.
An honest media would not have to defend against claims of being fake if they consistently told the truth. They would not have to make claims they are not dying if they were growing. Finally, they would not have to claim they are not enemies of the people if they didn’t continually attack the people and their core values. They brought this on themselves. Time to reap what they have sown.
Somebody should tell that woman in red to wear black next year.
So you want to host an event where you try to prove you’e “Fake New” and you select a guy from a fake news show to host it.

Hey! There’s tons of diversity! Don’t you see the single Asian lady on the left side? And some of those people wwwwaaaayyyy in the back, in the shadows, they could be African-American. Diversity is so important to the media.
