A woman in Arizona said she made a stunning discovery inside a new purse she bought at a Walmart: A note apparently written by a desperate prisoner in China.

Laura Wallace found the message, written in Chinese, tucked inside the zipper compartment of the purse she purchased at a Sierra Vista Walmart, KVOA reported.

Same goes for iPhone, but nobody seems to care about that.

Apple products are not made by prisoners or slaves. Nice try. They are made by some of the highest paid factory workers in China while other workers assembling ANDROID phones in the same factory will be working for one-third to one-half the pay per hour of the Apple line workers! All of those Apple line workers applied for the positions on Apple assembly lines and were selected from thousands of applicants for the jobs because of the higher pay that Apple requires they be paid.

Apple also enforces good working conditions and will not permit child labor in their supply chain, requiring any contractor to pay for a college education and housing through age 25 for any under age 18 workers found working on ANY Apple products for that contractor. This enforced disincentive assures that no contract company will ever deliberately employ underage workers on Apple manufacturing. Apple has cancelled a $2 billion contract with a subcontract who failed to abide by Apple's strict conditions for working conditions and age limitations and re-awarded the contract to another company at a substantially higher cost to Apple.

Apple maintains its own staff in these plants to assure working conditions and pay levels are in compliance with Apple contractural requirements. These are facts GingisK, not some false innuendo aimed at Apple when it is an assumed problem endemic to Chinese manufacturing that Apple is the one Consumer Electronic firm that is actually actively trying to improve conditions.

Other customer companies, including the over 500 consumer electronic name brands who contract WITH THE SAME ASSEMBLY CONTRACTORS THAT APPLE DOES, but who do not enforce such workers' rights, wages, and working condition rules in their contracts as Apple, merely give lip service by joining New York based organizations such as China Labor Watch and say they are doing something about worker rights and conditions while Apple writes the into their contracts and actively ENFORCES them!

That’s a good thing. I sometimes think about them, too. It’s sad.

Apple has factories involved in iPhone production in China, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, the Czech Republic, Philippines and the U.S. Many iPhones are produced by Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. (Commonly known as Foxconn) in Shenzen, China.

Apple was the last major computer company to finally move its manufacturing off-shore for competition reasons. Now Apple makes the iMac in Elk Grove, California, and the Mac Pro in Austin, Texas, probably the only major company manufacturing computers in the US. Again, nice try, but you really don't have no clue what you are talking about.

$60 in parts, $30 in labor, sell it for $700. Perfect.

Again, your ignorance down't make your facturd complaints factual in the real world, now does it?

The parts alone in an iPhone 7 total $219, not counting licensing and royalties for intellectual property for patents and copyrights. Then there is overhead, insurance, manufacturing costs, shipping, etc. So much for YOUR specious and snarky claims.

Apple's gross margin is a just reported 37%, not your delusional 88%. Every other company in the cellular phone manufacturing business is, turning in losses, i.e. LOSING money. Other big players such as Microsoft, Nokia, Motorola are literally GONE from that market because you can pump capital out the door only so long before the investors get tired of it. You apparently want Apple to do the same?

I do indeed believe that it is fitting and proper to make products sold in the United States in the United States. I just don't give a crap what an Apple troll like yourself thinks.

You base your thoughts on myths and ignorance. . . and then come into Apple threads and then claim I am the troll? Look in the mirror for the ignorant troll on this thread spreading disinformation sand lies. The one looking back at you is the troll.

Look to see where your computer, phone and other electronics are made before you start throwing your hypocritical rocks in Apple threads, GingisK.

Pardon me, but I erred. This is not an Apple thread. You hijacked it into one by falsely claiming that Apple did the same thing as was implied by the note in the purse. I corrected your claim with facts.

Ah no. All I was stating that the parts come from all over the world and then are assembled in China. Also a lot of manufactures are returning to the US because the cost of doing business abroad has risen dramatically.

The point you are overlooking is that the company that makes the purse is owned by the same entity that makes iPhones: The Communist Chinese government. There is no such thing as "good communists" and "bad communists". Providing huge monitary support for a sworn enemy is just plain stupid.

I don't find grave fault with Apple. I find grave moral issues with anyone who does business with China.

Oh GOOD GRIEF!

There you go, making up FACTURDS! Where do you get this nonsense! You sound like a DEMOCRAT, willing to write anything to win.

Foxconn IS NOT OWNED BY THE Communist Chinese Government, GingisK.

"Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., trading as Foxconn Technology Group, is a Taiwanese multinational electronics contract manufacturing company headquartered in New Taipei City, Taiwan."

Foxconn is owned by HonHai Precision Industries, , a publicly traded company headed up by CEO Terry Gou, who also founded it, based in TAIWAN. It is a purely capitalist venture that is NOT owned by China, it merely operates some of its manufacturing plants in China, among many other countries. The Chinese government owns no stock in Foxconn or HonHai. It is purely a private venture. Much of the equipment used by Foxconn to assemble Apple's products is owned by Apple and leased to Foxconn. In addition, Foxconn does not make anything except Consumer Electronics; they do not make purses. Quit making up your "facts" which you apparently pull out of thin air to bolster your arguments.

I was educated as an Economist and I can tell you that China is no longer a purely or even mostly a Communist economy. China is operating under a Capitalist economy with a socialist infrastructure for certain major portions of their economy. China's move away from Communism is the reason for their economic surge and their becoming a world power in the past two decades and their leadership knows it. They are STILL a dictatorship of an oligarchy, but it is anything but Communistic. They are still highly regulated in some areas, but are getting less so as they attempt to free their economy from the constraints of the soviet model. Frankly, I would more likely describe modern China as a Socialistic Bureaucratic Fascism than Communism. They have abandoned the central command driven economic model of communism for a modified market driven one of Capitalism. While they have not yet gone 100% market driven in areas such as health care, power generation, shipping, transportation, housing, etc., in areas including agriculture, manufacturing, retail sales, and services, they are moving to private production and choice. It is paying off for them.

I am perfectly fine with leaving YOU alone. It is your misinformation that you are spreading that needs correcting. . . and your facturds that are totally untrue. You drop them ex cathedra as if they were completely true and they are not. You have no clue what you are talking about and some people reading them will take you at your word and repeat your false claims. Let's call them what they really are: LIES.

We need to be certain of our facts before we debate, otherwise we lose the factual high ground, as you repeatedly have in this discussion because you don't start with facts, but myths and innuendos that have no basis in fact but sound good for what you want to believe to be true.
