The fired Balch Springs police officer who shot and killed a 15-year-old in a car leaving a party has been charged with murder, law enforcement officials confirmed to FOX4.
The murder warrant for Roy Oliver was signed Friday afternoon by a Dallas judge. Oliver turned himself in late Friday evening.

However, it may help to restore faith that the police are not above the law.
In the case of Alton Sterling, the convicted felon had a gun, and was resisting arrest. In this Baton Rouge shooting around the 4th of July 2016, the police probably acted correctly. The fact that the Justice Department refused to indict the police officers speaks volumes of that case.
Here in Louisiana, we have HORRIBLE media that distorts things. I just hope folks like Obama will keep their mouth shut about shootings that are justified by the police.
In the case of the Balch Springs shooting, the police officer was fired and now is facing criminal charges.
In my opinion, the system is working.
Even in the case of the South Carolina officer who wrongly pumped 8 shots into a person fleeing from him, the officer in South Carolina is facing 20 years in jail.
Roy Oliver is a US Army veteran who served two tours in Iraq.
There might be something from his combat service that may be affecting him. He will not be on the streets as a police officer, and maybe he needs some kind of help that the Obama Administration VA system failed to give him.
Maybe he can get help under the Trump Administration VA system if that is indeed the case.
However, there are still the criminal charges against him.

People want to play up the ‘all or nothing’ side of an issue when truth is in the middle. Are all cops bad or most of them are like that like the left and social justice crowd like to promulgate? Of course not but that doesn’t mean that all cops are clean or don’t do wrong.

Murder seems like an over charge. I doubt this officer intended to kill the young man. Negligent homicide maybe.
Agreed. The system is not perfect but by and large it works well. The vast majority of cops are good honest people, doing an often thankless and dangerous job. Sadly a few are not. They need to be identified and weeded out. And if they abuse their position they need to be held to account.

All the officer has to say is "I didn't intend to kill him"...and he'll get off like Susan Rice, Hillary and Huma.

I think that police departments that do not adopt clear policies against shooting cars absent the use of a weapon other than the car itself (and absent a terrorist ramming scenario) are probably trying to protect their officers but are actually doing a disservice to them.

That's the game! DA's over charge and know that their law enforcement buddies will skate and the jury will be blamed.
This poor cop was a mess, had been suspended before, and had no business on the beat. His superiors should be fired. But, they won't be.

But our president at that time (Obama) criticized the police and shortly after that was the killing of police officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge.
I blame the deaths of those police officers on Barrack Obama.
The Police lose credibility when a policeman lies about a shooting. Apparently, the Police Chief was initially lied to about this shooting, and found out from the video the truth.
By making the WRITTEN STATEMENTS liable to criminal charges for a police officer will help POLICE DEPARTMENTS to GAIN CREDIBILITY.

I blame whatever pussys that did not arrest this POS before he fired.

He did not go on duty to chalk up any kills.
When the incident went down he was not after this particular young man.
But, firing your gun at a car with people, with some intention to stop whatever is happening, you do intend to hit someone. And you cannot plan to ‘wound’ them versus killing them. Or shoot the tires out, or put a magnum slug into the engine block.
So any gunfire contains the strong possibility of killing someone.
It is sad. I’m confident he didn’t walk out his door that day gunning to shoot someone. When I first read about it I thought, ‘negligent discharge’. No winners here.
