Looking at the number of cases... I wonder how that compares to how many people got hit by lightning.

Doesn't matter if you're the one bit and infected, or struck by a bolt. I have 7 family members in Western Kentucky infected by the tic borne Alfa-Gal desease. Very nasty, and rare.

USA averages 25-50 lightning deaths, depending on the source. Non-fatal strikes estimated at 400.
