For the last 40 years, the murder rate has trended downward.
And today, the Murder Rate is to the levels it was in the 1950’s.
Not lower, but trending down. Aside from the country in cultural, educational, physical & moral decline...things are great. Cherry pick all the data you want to, but the U.S. & the West are in collapse.
And as Trump has pointed out recently...violent crime is on the rise, again. You left out the data for the last 3 years showing this. My point is not JUST about the murder rate....it’s about the entire cultural collapse the West is undergoing with the rise of identity politics & family breakdown.
When discussing a murder in a small Oregon town, and the current rate of violence in the country, citing Homicide Rates is not considered to be “cherry picking” data. It is relevant to the discussion.
As for any decline in the Western Culture, we are much better off than other regions of the world as we have a a healthy rate of growth.
China, Russia, Japan and Europe do not have healthy rates of growth and Russia has abortion, suicide and homicide rates that dwarf those of the United States.
What healthy rate of growth do we have ? 80% birth of out of wedlock black children ? Massive birth rates by an endless stream of people from the third world ? Festering inner cities no one can walk through safely any longer ? Horrible public schools ? Obesity epidemic ? In what universe is the United States better off these days than it was in the 1950s ?
You are correct sir. I automatically assume some muzzie, or illegal alien did it, till we can prove otherwise. By virtue of the fact that the perp was not described, I have pretty much made up my mind.

My Life Expectancy has increased since the 1950’s and unlike the 1950’s, I do not have to be all that concerned about my kids dying of diseases that they can now be vaccinated against.
My quality of life is far better than it was in the 1950’s as I have access to amazing technology, better health care and my kids have access to better education than existed in the 1950’s.
I’m talking about the collapse of Western culture, not if you can get a flu shot at the drive up. All these advances mean nothing if the nation is hollowed out on a moral level.

We are by far the best positioned culture and our culture is on a better path than any culture on the planet.
A culture that respected life, how about not having millions of abortions every year. You know...mass murder of children. That would be a start.

... when white folks weren’t always nice to black folks (though it had been a couple of decades since white mobs had burned down a black community) BUT black folks didn’t live in terror of other black folks, largely valued education and hard work, weren’t burning down their own communities and weren’t murdering huge swaths of their own posterity in abortion mills ...
... in fact, we Americans weren’t murdering large numbers of our own children in abortion mills at all ...
... there was STILL time to end FDR’s highhanded lawlessness and restore governance by constitutional means with minimal discomfort if only Eisenhower had valued and honored his oath of office?

That would be great, but the fact is that the abortion rate is down and continues to decline. However, we do still have far too many babies being killed and we need to decrease that to zero.
And there is hope for that with new appointments to the Supreme Court.
Let us hope for an end to the slaughter. Still does not erase the stain of state-approved murder of children which any sane society should abhor. And speaking of insane....men marring men & the spread of sodomy & disease is beyond rational. There is nothing healthy about American culture 2017...it’s a cesspit. Not living human in the 50s could have ever have dreamed of this mess.
