A couple of years ago, our paper which serves two large counties, switched from doing its own national review of AP and other source stories and started using the USA Today national insert. People at that time objected because of the extreme left-wing slant of the USA Today staff, but the paper cited costs. Well, during the Presidential campaign, USA Today was in for Hillary with both feet. Then came all the 'fake news' and the chief editor of the paper is now asking the readers if we want to go back to the paper vetting the stories or keeping the insert. Just shows that 'fake news' by companies like WaPo, NYT, and USA Today can have financial impact on their bottom line.
Drop CPUSA Today
Yesterday.
Bird owners hardest hit...................
I’m surprised that your local paper is not owned by Gannett. They’ve been buying them up for ten cents on the dollar.
Yes, they buy up every local paper they can then use any profits obtained to support their flagship USA Today. The only way they can get readers for USA Today is to give them away at hotels and motels. That is the only way I ever got one. Could never bring myself to actually buy a copy.
USA Today is something like Expedia.
You might not see it on your hotel bill but it’s there.
If they "gave" you one at the hotel, you probably bought it.
Most places let you opt out, but you must decline the paper at check-in time, and you have to mention it specifically. They don't volunteer the information.
If it’s a Gannett publication, not likely it will be dropped.
Actually, those copies are paid for by the hotel. They aren’t free.
What paper is it?
They have been liars by omission for a very long time. They are just getting more brazen in the current age.
I never bought one and I never will.
