Greek Goddess Statue Removed in Bangladesh After Islamist Outcry [SEE: Getty Photos]

Workers have begun to dismantle the statue of a Greek goddess from Bangladesh's Supreme Court complex, after an outcry from Islamists.
The sculpture of Themis - the goddess of justice - wearing a sari was less than six months old, but Islamist groups demanded its removal by Friday.
They claimed it hurt the religious sentiments of Muslims and it prompted mass protests in the capital, Dhaka.
PM Sheikh Hasina agreed to its removal, but secular groups opposed it.

That’s not the statue from Bangladesh, which had a sari. A shame that the BBC did not dare to show the real statue in their article. Mustn’t hure British Islamist’s feelings, I guess.

Although it’s referred to as the Mercury dime, it isn’t Mercury, the god at all, but a female Liberty wearing a cap with wings, representing freedom of thought. (Although Muslims don’t seem to seem to like that very much either.
