Justin Trudeau, Donald Trump leave G7 Summit at a crossroads

Canada is often seen as a close relative of the United States. It’s always been so, and Canadian leaders have rarely strayed far from that relationship.

Justin Trudeau and Donald Trump both attended the 42nd meeting of the (Group of Seven) on May 26 and 27; Trudeau for his second time and Trump for his first. What emerged was a sense of rivalry, as Trudeau arrived in favour of the same progressive policy points Trump opposed.

Trudeau is a politician through & through. President Trump is not nor is there a politically correct bone in his body.

I suspect Trump has realized climate change is extrapolating conclusions from incomplete data...Scientist and meteorologist don't agree on what the politicians want you to believe and this is where it gets dicey, China and India are huge polluters however it is America that has cleaned up her act. Parts of CA a few years back had "smog days" where you were to take caution....most of our big cities have clean air. POTUS is correct to move slowly or not at all on the "global community demands".

Canada has never been any kind of relative to America.

Merely a good neighbor.

"Trudeau is a politician through & through." Perhaps.

I've got him down as a pandering, dilettante asshat who has never held a job and has no idea how the economy works. Wait a minute...they both fit.

One of the things that gets me is why President Polk didn't squeeze more concessions from the British/Canada. The St. Lawrence River should be the NE boundary of the U.S., with Nova Scotia and Newfoundland U.S. states.

So you’re saying he’s a French version of our governor, Jerry “the fairy” Brown?

( Trump’s brief separation from the foreign leaders) ahead of the photo op comes shortly after he refused to take part in a pledge supporting the Paris climate deal. The U.S. was the only country represented at the summit that did not sign the deal on Saturday. German Chancellor Angela Merkel said there was a “very intense meeting” where all six other nations “made it clear that we want the U.S. to stick to its commitments.”

A fellow Marine that I went thru boot camp with (way back when) at Parris Island, we reconnected in more recent years at re-unions, tells me he respects Donald Trump because ... as a teenager, his father had him doing entry level shovel type jobs (during his summer break) at various Trump projects
on Staten Island. My Marine Corps buddy has lived on Staten Island his entire life ... he’s a democrat ... but the old fashioned type ... like Tip O’Niel.

They want the US to join them in tanking all our economies, while the real problem, China, gets a free pass...these people are unreal and the voters who support them are even worse.

I suspect Trump has realized climate change is extrapolating conclusions from incomplete data...

Anthropomorphic Global Warming claims (no matter how one tries to rename the theory) are not based on "incomplete data." They are fabricated from "false and often disproven data."

I tend to think after a year or two of seeing the costs related to that Paris Climate Agreement, Trudeau will want to follow Pres. Trump’s example and find a reason to remove the noose from around Canada’s figurative neck.

The brownie points he gets for opposing Trump won’t be enough to pay for business profits lost to that bottomless pit of Climate Change prevention.
