PARIS FALLOUT: Trump Wanted To Stick It To ‘Holier-Than-Thou’ Jet-Setting Elites
Daily Caller ^ | 6/2/17 | Michael Bastach

Posted on 06/02/2017 6:15:06 AM PDT by markomalley

President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris climate accord was, in part, motivated by his resentment for elitist hypocrites who ride around in private jets and SUVs while warning about global warming.

“This is religion for the political left, and our supporters are constantly being asked to change their behavior,” a top White House official told Axios, who added that “snarky comments” from European leaders also encouraged Trump to withdraw.

The White House official said “Trump resented the corporate critics who ‘ride in fossil-fuel-guzzling planes and SUVs, then act holier-than-thou,'” according to Axios.

Trump announced he would withdraw the U.S. from the Paris agreement, which the Obama administration joined in 2016 after years of negotiating with United Nations member countries. Some 147 countries have ratified the Paris agreement.

Trump said the Paris agreement was poorly negotiated and would harm the U.S. economy. Trump said the deal transferred wealth from the U.S. to economic rivals, like China and India.

“I was elected to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris,” Trump said.

The liberal hypocrites Trump railed against in private were among the most distraught with his decision to withdraw from the Paris accord.

Former Vice President Al Gore, for example, bashed Trump’s decision and said he would recut the end of his second global warming film. Gore regularly flies private jets and is escorted to events in SUVs with a full security detail.

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio criticized Trump’s decision to withdraw from Paris. DiCaprio has himself been heavily criticized for warning about global warming while riding in private jets and renting mega-yachts for parties.

Trump promised to “cancel” the Paris agreement on the campaign trail, but his own administration was split on the issue. Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson were among those who favored staying in the Paris agreement.

White House chief strategist Steve Bannon and EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt favored exit and had been working behind the scenes for months to hold Trump to his campaign promise.

The Trump administration will begin the process of withdrawing from the Paris agreement, which will take at least until November 2019. The agreement doesn’t allow signatories to pull out for three years after it goes into force.

I was listening to a reporter on Fox who often criticizes Trump. He said this was a phony deal that everyone knew would have no effect on anything, even CO2, and that the reaction has everything to do with the behavior of Trump’s opponents and nothing to do with the substance of the Paris Accords.

One President cannot encumber another with a Presidential agreement (non treaty). The agreement lives and dies with the originators Presidency. There is no exit rule Trump has to legally follow. President Trump can cut off any exit rule right at the souls of it's feet.

What is this three years to exit nonsense? The Senate never ratified this treaty so John Kerry’s signature (as you know John Kerry served in Vietnam...hat tip Rush) means nothing.

The blue collar billionaire.

He never lost that everyday man persona that his dad instilled in him.

Trump pulled the United States out of the Paris Accords because it was a very bad deal for Americans, not out of spite towards people he doesn’t like. That’s something Obama would do.

This 3 year business is a last stand play by the Globalists.

I doubt Trump considers that there is any hook holding America to this treaty, which BO pretended was an agreement because he knew Congress would have refused to ratify it.

This “treaty” er agreement, whatever, was never ratified by Congress. I do not care what they call it. It is a treaty and it is not legal.

We should be able to pull out of this easily because it was never subjected to the Constitutional ratification.

Hussein’s signature is insufficient like everything else he ever did.

I don't think there was any spite involved.

I think he just looked at those pretentious pr!cks and figured that their behavior completely undermined any case that they tried to make about the dangers of "climate change."

And predictably the same elitists have exactly the reactions for us to see clearly.

Leftists and elitists (aren't they one and the same) are so transparently foreseeable, it is as fair as shooting fish in a barrel.

Which is why the Trumpster was elected.

Amazing, is it not, that such a supposedly dumb guy can outwit all those “elite” folks.

I’m thinking that “elite” does not mean what it’s supposed to mean.

That’s funny. Yesterday, Scott Pruitt was on Savage, and he stated the US would immediately quit making payments to the Green Climate Fund.
