The sister, Hatun Surucu, 23, was killed at a Berlin bus stop when her youngest brother fired three bullets into her head. The brothers said the family’s honor had been offended because she divorced the man her family had forced her to marry at age 16 and then began dating and refused to wear a head scarf.

Though her family is ethnically Kurdish, and originally from Turkey, Ms. Surucu was born and raised in Germany. Her murder, after a series of similar so-called honor killings of Muslim women in Germany, sent shock waves through the country.

A Turkish court decision should have absolutely no bearing on the decision that a German court would make. I assume that the Turks will use this as an excuse not to extradite the brothers back to Germany to stand trial.

A lot of Americans don’t know this, but the badly behaved “Turkish immigrants” in Germany are largely Kurds. Ethnic Kurds in Germany are much more likely to commit crime or be on welfare than ethnic Turks. Kurds also had a large role the genocides against Armenian and Assyrian Christians. Kurds have been hyped up in America for geopolitical reasons as being some kind of Western-like people. The truth is quite different.
