Black troops far more likely to face military punishment in every service

Black troops are significantly more likely to face military punishment than white service members, according to a new report released on Wednesday.

Previously undisclosed data shows vast racial disparities inside the military justice system, where black service members are up to 2.6 times more likely to face court martial or disciplinary action. Protect Our Defenders, a group that advocates for sexual assault victims in the military, received the demographic data after filing Freedom of Information Act requests to each military service branch last year.

“It’s information that’s not new to the military,” Col. Don Christensen, a former chief prosecutor in the U.S. Air Force and the group’s president, said on Wednesday. “These are their numbers, they track this information.”

That, by itself, is not an indication of discrimination. The question is are black service member up to 2.6 times more likely to face court martial or disciplinary action for the same infractions or are they responsible for 2.6 times of the infractions?

Recent (2014 IIRC) FBI stats indicate that blacks,who represent about 15% of the nation's population,commit about half of the nation's murders.I wonder if stats like this can be extrapolated to violations of the UCMJ .

More likely to be promoted as well. That is a fact by the way. When promotion boards state in their instructions that there intentions are to promote a higher percentage of minorities than currently exist in the service, that is the only possible outcome.

Exactly - same as they are more prone to run afoul of the law as private citizens - they commit crimes in multiples of what non-Blacks do.....Oh, the inhumanity - those who commit crimes are more likely to have a penalty inflicted upon their sorry asses!
