“Basic Income” is going to be the Big Bribe in the 2020 election. ‘Free Healthcare’-’Free College’-Basic Income’. Every 18-25s dream of never working a day in the life come true.
That was exactly my first thought.
The Democrat controlled states are rushing this country headlong into communism.
It will NOT end well.
They will tax the tourism industry out of existence. The COLA for miltary will go through the roof- and we’ll pick up the tab for that.
There can’t be enough pineapples to sustain the program for very long so someone else has to foot the bill.
That’s probably the intent outright.
However, in the interrim, just how many welfare bums can each state cram aboard cruise liners and converted container ships?
Lets see if we can in six or seven hundred thousand new Hawaiians including all Muslim refugees before they can blink.
With a little effort the state population will what it deserves.
Who will clean toilets when they can collect a “Basic Income’.

If Hawaii keeps this kind of crap up, they will start giving California a run for their title as the most non-free socialist state in the country. Of course, Hawaii is forgetting where it gets its money...TOURISTS (who have money). Like all good liberals, they never consider the consequences of their actions....broke tourists don’t go to expensive Hawaiian holidays....
I suspect a lot of liberals believe that because ultra liberals are everywhere in politics and the media and billionaires, they are also plentiful among the hoi-polloi. It is why the Trump and Brexit votes have so shocked them. Given the chance, the real working people will not swallow a guaranteed income for all. Now, here in California, the hoi-polloi are not given the chance to vote, or if they are, their votes are overturned by the Attorney General challenging the vote or refusing to defend the vote, whichever the Democrats don’t like. We are counting the days until retirement and we can escape this loony bin.
And as it typical of the left, they will soon declare “universal basic income” a “fundamental right,” and will demand portability to other states, which much administer the programs with state money. Then some leftist judge will deem these states which don’t support it “bigoted” and will declare UBI a “right” nationwide.
