Some of it is interpretation.
The Catholics, Orthodox, and Protestants are all varieties of Christianity. They agree on many things, but disagree on a number of things. In a similar fashion, the Sunnis, Shiites, Wahabis, etc., agree on the broad matters, but have differences on certain points.
But they all agree on the need for the caliphate.
Sunni and Shia split is equivalent to the disagreement between Orthodox and Roman Catholic, but rather less than disagreement between Catholic and Presbyterian. Of course, Moslem view of that disagreement of what anyone else would see as inconsequential things is much more categoric. It is more Us vs Them and Them are Apostate and deserving of death.
The Jihad has gone on for 1400 years and will continue until all living human beings are Moslem or until none are. If the former then it will continue as a sort of civil war as the different identities of Moslems slaughter each other seeking purity of Islam until either there is only one Molsem/human being alive, or until the population depletion of Moslem culture unable to raid and conquer and the technological retrogression leave the world’s remaining population in disconnected pockets.
True dat, however that’s not necessarily the whole story of letting the dragons of Islam loose.
I say dragons, because there’s more than one, and apparently they are not always bent on teamwork.
Trouble is, even an evil jihad needs the virtue of unity in order to be able to carry on a coherent conquest.

Yes,...it’s the same old Shite (Iran) Saudi (Sunni)....warfare they’ve been fighting for centuries.....and no Western Nation will change that conflict regardless.
Saudi’s problem is they really don’t have much of a fighting army, Yemen’s war is an example. So they do depend on the US and others for the most part. Iran on the other hand has indeed built their own Army and they are fierce fighters.

They kill each other because they are Arabs and Arabized populations that have either never left the 10th century or have returned to it by virtue of their conversion. They are essentially tribal in outlook, and desert tribal at that.

They all think they are buying tickets to Paradise and that is part of the price. One is announcing he is doing his deed for Allah and explaining to the other that the Moslem god is greater. It is also part of telling himself that he is doing the right thing.

I am not sure it is exactly a whorehouse. The description of the girls one is exposed to in that place with cool shade where rivers flow makes them out to be something like non carnal androids with no bodily functions.
