Trump faces rebellion from more than 267 mayors

A movement is afoot by a United Nations-backed group to get U.S. cities to rebel against President Trump’s decision to abandon the Paris climate deal.

And it’s quietly becoming a huge success.

ICLEI, founded in 1990 as an international network of local and regional governments committed to “sustainability,” is rounding up support for a massive resistance movement by American cities in which they would forge ahead with what Trump has called a “bad deal for America.”

At least 267 mayors and governors have signed an open letter sent to the “international community and parties to the Paris Agreement” stating their commitment to the Paris climate deal, whether the president supports them or not.

“They are the radicals,” said Patrick Wood, an Arizona-based author, economist and expert on global governance. “They are the more aggressive mayors. Many are the early adopters of this radical climate policy.”

ICLEI now is bringing pressure on cities to join the fray of Trump rebellion.

Uh, probably no chance of these "mares" NOT being (s)elected for another term and replaced with someone with half a brain, Go ahead, dumbasses. Promise to be 100% renewable by 2035. No further subsidies or fed money. See how that works for ya. Not to mention that whatever they sign is more than likely only good for TP. If that. Haven't looked at the list of "mares" but ours is probably one of them. After all, we get loads of sunshine every year.

They can make ‘agreements’ with anyone they want, it does not bind the USA to their stupid agenda. One could even argue it cannot bind their cities either, since only The Federal Government can make contracts with other countries.

But let them have their fun. It’s like me making a deal with the goldfish in my house- the goldfish really can’t do a lot.

It seems too many people are really, really gullible. And these people are the ones that seek political office.

I think we need more stay at home moms with our children, to gain more centered Americans who can stand on their own two feet and not sway with every breeze to try and get more love.

I think it’s like your cat making a deal with the goldfish. Because if climate change global rulings are the cat, he’s got a lot of profit from when the goldfish agree to the deal.

Our mayor wouldn’t take no for an answer on the streetcar issue. It didn’t matter that the citizens totally rejected it.

We are supposed to care what he thinks?

There are about 19,500 municipalities in the US, if each has a mayor or acting as mayor, divide 267 by 19,500 you get .01368, so lets cal it 1.4% of US mayors are revoting against the president... meh...

Includes the African Communist who was just elected Mayor of Jackson, Mississippi, I’m sure.

And Pittsburgh’s Bill Peduto, who seems intent on turning the city into one gigantic green, sustainable bike path.

This is one of the most heartwarming stories I've ever read.

Mayors in more than 250 urban dumps in the U.S. are going to impose a lower standard of living on their own citizens subjects? Have at it, folks. LMAO.

“And it’s quietly becoming a huge success”

Huh? They can follow the Paris accords on their own but the US was in no way bound by them because odumbo didn’t seek Senate approval and and these mayors can’t bind the US in any way. So how is this a “huge success”?

Excellent!

Tell those mayors to apply to the United Nations when they need funds for streets and other infrastructure.

You are on your own, baby!
