A 19-year-old soldier from Wasilla, Alaska has died while serving overseas in Afghanistan, according to Reuters.
The Pentagon said Wednesday that he died from injuries sustained during an attack.

"Private First Class Hansen Kirkpatrick of Wasilla, Alaska, died on Monday when he was struck by “indirect fire,” a military term that usually encompasses rockets, mortars, or artillery, the U.S. military command in Kabul said in a statement. Kirkpatrick was assigned to the U.S. Army’s 1st Armored Division, which is based in Fort Bliss, Texas."
When will this accursed war end?
Not one of those Afghanis are worth the inconvenience of our Soldiers being away from their families over Independence Day.
Now The Fourth of July will be a time of sorrow for his family instead of joy.
Makes me so upset and angry.

Me and some buddies got carded in a Honolulu airport bar when we came back to the States from Nam.
Every bit a Soldier & a Man. Still, at my age & having raised 3 sons, I always see a mothers baby. :-(
He was 3 or 4 years old when we entered the war in Afghanistan.
Sad.
He’s a soldier AND a kid.
