Attorney General calls for battle with gangs, drugs

In a Twin Cities appearance United States Attorney General Jeff Sessions warned that violent crimes and drug trafficking is on the rise in the nation, and called on prosecutors to aggressively battle street gangs.

Sessions addressed hundreds of prosecutors from across the nation who gathered at the downtown Minneapolis Hilton Hotel for the National Association of District Attorneys annual meeting.

"We can never cede a single neighborhood, or a block or a street corner to gangs and thugs," Sessions told the group, citing newspapers stories from Minneapolis.

"Much of our rising murder rate is indeed, I am now convinced, a product of violent gang activity."

He challenged the prosecutors to pursue more gun crimes, and pledged that federal prosecutors are stepping up such cases.

"We've got a lot of people who want to pass more gun laws, but they’re not as enthusiastic, it seems to me, about prosecution the ones we've got," the Attorney General remarked.

"I think if we work together and hammer criminals who carry guns during crimes, that possess firearms after having been convicted of a felony, we will have a positive impact."

Sessions said he believes the uptick in violent crimes in the past few years is not just an aberration, but the beginning of what could a long slide into the high crime rates that plagued the nation in the 1980s if left unchecked.

When we import 3rd world low lifes the ònly outcome is our country inevitably becomes low lifes. Most crimes are committed by newcomer minorities that have either been imported or have invaded our country.

Not only does Sessions have to go, but Trump has to deal with Mcabe in the meantime, while awaiting confirmation of a new AG, and ensuring a new AG hasn’t been “unmasked”. Sessions isn’t incompetent - he just refuses to help Trump (and America), because he’s been compromised. *uck him.

If Jeff doesn’t restore the Rule of Law with *his* good guys and weapons, it’ll fall to DJT voters to do it in a fashion that the lawyers ain’t gonna like.

Yep. Never trust a former Federal prosecutor, even when they’re saying what you want to hear.

I always liked Sessions but I’m beginning to agree with you, he would be better at ICE because that seems to be his only game.

If you want to fight gangs, you need to eliminate the welfare state and militarize the border. But the government won’t do that because they have to feed the drug enforcement/prison industrial complex.

I somehow doubt that Sessions is the one who invited Bill and Hill to Trump’s inaugural luncheon and prodded Trump to wax eloquent there about how much respect he has for the two of them. Somehow I doubt Sessions is the one with a daughter who is good friend with Chelsea, who pleaded for them not to prosecute her mother. Somehow I don’t think Sessions is the one with a son-in-law who thinks from his own experience that holding prominent people like his father accountable to the law is “fair” to do to the children of such prominent people.

You are mistaking the political game with deliberate law enforcement.

Trump has been schmoozing, conversing, and making deals with people his entire adult life. Some he knows are friends, some are enemies, and some bear considerable watching.

Presidents (all of them) must interact and play politics with world leaders they know are thugs, and with leaders they know are superb.

Nixon met with Mao, who killed an estimated 60,000,000 people. But he reestablished relations with China because it was in the interests of United States.

I have little doubt that Trump knows exactly that Bill, Hillary, Obama, and the rest of them are corrupt, thieving, murderous criminals.

But it isn't Trump's job to investigate and prosecute them at this point. That is the job of the nation's Chief Law Enforcement Officer. The Attorney General. Nominated by the President. Confirmed by Congress. A position that wields enormous power, resources, and authority.

And the person in that position is not doing a damn thing about our political criminals.

Nor is he going to.

You know it, and I know it.

IMO the reason he isn’t is because his boss has told him not to cause political issues in his prosecutions.

Trump’s tweets reflect that he has no interest in seeing them prosecuted, because the very fact of him tweeting about it undermines any actual prosecution.

Perhaps you missed the reports of Chelsea crying to Ivanka not to have her mother prosecuted—and that influencing Trump.

Unfortunately correct. Huge difference between tweeting as one of 20 candidates, one nominee, President-elect, and President. Publicly prejudicing legal cases at such a high level is not a good idea.

Trump can tweet niceties all he wants. Not only is he bound legally to be above the fray, that is his role as President. Quite frankly, that is what I expect him to do. The role of the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the United States, the Attorney General, is to enforce the law and uphold justice.

Moreover, Trump cannot order investigations, or halt them. You know this. Even when Trump casually mentioned to that slime ball Comey that General Flynn, a highly decorated officer, was a "good guy", the press and the Democrats wanted him crucified for it.

No, it is up to Jeff Sessions to uphold the law, and he flat out refuses to do so.

Trump knows the Clintons are corrupt as any politicians in history. He told Hillary she should be in jail at the debates. He isn't stupid. He knows their crimes. And for someone as savvy as he is, I highly doubt he was influenced by Chelsea, a.k.a: "The Clinton Foundation Illegally Paid for My $3.5 Million Dollar Wedding."

Moreover, Trump is livid at Sessions (still) for his cowardly recusal.

http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/336862-aides-pressuring-trump-not-to-fire-sessions-report

Sessions gave up the authority of being Attorney General only weeks into Trump's Presidency, and when he did so, Sessions crossed the Rubicon. He can never be an effective Attorney General.

He must go.

Also, he has no FBI Director.

The assault will be quick and brutal and will be so broad as to just sweep away all the current nonsense with no other purpose than to prevent his mortal action.

The scope is so broad as to provide many choices for the first attack. The invasion of Europe did not take place till June of 1944, two and one half years after the declaration of war. Victory was assured by meticulous planning and implementation. Hillary et al are as powerful as was Adolph Hitler.
