The Justice Department began calling illegal immigrants "illegal aliens," breaking from the Obama-era language of "undocumented," "unauthorized," or "migrants."
The change came last month in a press release announcing Attorney General Jeff Sessions' meeting with the families of victims of crimes by illegal immigrants. This week an official statement heralding tougher rules for sanctuary cities also used the term.
"So-called 'sanctuary' policies make all of us less safe because they intentionally undermine our laws and protect illegal aliens who have committed crimes," the document read.
Some were outraged at the language switch, noting that "word choice is important," as Chicago Tribune writer Todd Slowik wrote.
"The phrase “illegal alien” plays into assumptions that immigrants living in this country without proper documentation are criminals," Slowik wrote.

I too am outraged
They should be called CRIMINAL illegal aliens.
Down here in Southeast Texas -as is the case else where- I still hear the term 'illegal greasers' quite often.
The last President was a master of that playbook strategy.
I’m offended that the liberals are offended.
The last time I looked at an immigrants green card (they are not green anymore) I saw the words “Resident Alien” on it. The IRS has rules, regulations, and laws regarding “resident aliens” and “non resident aliens.”
That’s the legal term... maybe that’s why democrats hate it...

Maybe it plays into the assumption that we should use the language of the Constitution.
It only mentions Naturalized citizens, Natural born citizens, and Aliens.
If you aren’t from here, and haven’t been naturalized, you are an alien. Like Obama for example.
One is an "illegal alien" if the alien traveled to his non-native place disregarding the properly enacted laws that regulate that activity.--in other words, illegally.
How in blazes can anyone argue with the plain meaning of the term?
Don't like a person being called an illegal alien? Then the alien can one of four things:
(1) Don't come here.
(2) Follow the current law to come here.
(3) First wait first someone for in the host country that sympathizes with you to lobby legally and peacefully to change the current law so that you can then come here under different conditions than what the current law permits.
(4) Don't have any immigration laws at all.
Number four is out of the question. If you can't come under conditions 2 and 3, default to option 1.
Even after doing all this, as long as there are laws, aliens who disobey those laws will be illegal aliens.
If I happened to be living in France past my stay date & I was aware of being there illegally, well I would be an illegal alien. If you’re going to do it accept the name.
Some of us are at least a step ahead of you Mr. Slowik. We call them CRIMINAL ALIENS which describes them succinctly and perfectly.

Current green cards have the words “Permanant Resident”.
The outrage over the word “aliens”, is ridiculous but that’s what the loony left does best.
