Shattuck: #CALEXIT would be a truly golden idea If they want to leave so bad, go ahead, let ’em

California could secede from the United States. Signatures are being hurriedly gathered for a 2018 ballot initiative that would begin the process of independence for the Golden State.

Awesome. Break a leg. I wholeheartedly endorse “#Calexit” and here’s why you should too.

About a third of the entire welfare population of the United States lives in California. Let’s make that the Independent Country of California’s problem, not ours.

An estimated 2,350,000 illegal immigrants (about the population of Connecticut) reside there too. In the new California they can all be legalized and won’t have to dwell “in the shadows.”

California should go and take with it “El Nino,” whatever that is. Also take Lena Dunham, Susan Sarandon, Joss Whedon, driverless cars, trendy enemas, TED talks and earthquakes.

Sure, 49 states on the flag may seem uneven so let’s make it 48. It’s time for the California of the East to secede, as well. Instead of being a sanctuary state Massachusetts can be a sanctuary country.

Bonus: That’s 66 fewer electoral votes for the Democrats.

Why don’t California, Oregon and Washington join Canada. Maybe New England too.

There have been ‘fantasy maps’ of the USA portraying a split between normal states and progressive sh*tholes like Red England and the far left coast. Trying to link the two areas is a challenge.

Just do a county by county referendum. The blues can go with all their debt and illegals and the reds counties can attach to Nevada. Lose two Dem senators and a couple of dozen rat House members, and turn Nevada into another red state. Win-win. Oh and keep a corridor to San Diego, and charge every Mexican and “California” a transit fee to cross.

Love it...dumping California and Massachusetts would certainly improve the rest of the country...make east Tennessee the new ‘breadbasket’ of the country.

I would go one better and do it precinct by precinct. The counties are unusually large, especially Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside, which are bigger than some entire states in area (and population), and many areas within them don’t subscribe uniformally to the moonbat derangement.

Precincts must vote 55% for secession (anything below 55% can be swung in the “right” direction). The Commie RED areas can have their dystopian fantasy world and the Conservative areas can remain with America in a newly constituted Golden State.

Letting States go without a war is really short-sighted.

I would send the YES voters to camps for re-education and labor, and keep their property and land.

Swap Cally with Puerto Rico and leave the flag alone? A win-win.

The problem is that California is self-destructing.

Housing prices have gone through the roof—I live in a house in Maryland that could easily cost four times as much in California. And yet, my impression of CA every time I go to visit is that it is crumbling. A store that I remember my father taking me to in the early 60s is virtually unchanged. Illegal aliens are living in shanties along the railroad tracks—no doubt becoming even more envious and resentful as they see that just a short distance away, people are living in actual houses, and they are no closer to living what they see as a luxurious lifestyle than they were in Mexico. (I saw the shanties when my son and I took the train to CA in March—they are in the Bay Area, one of the more expensive areas of the state.)

And so on.

If left on its own, California would quickly go the way of Venezuela. Whether the rich elitists would stay when it is collapsing around them is a question for which I have no answer.

Then you would prove these moonbats’ fears justified.

If they try to secede, their fears should indeed be justified.

The left is turning California into a Feudal State. Extremely rich and privileged along with extremely poor. The middle class has simply left. That is simply an unsustainable state of affairs.

If they can’t find enough signatures, they should ask non-californians what they think...
