"haven't paid a $14/year tax bill for three decades"

They need to pay an annual Millionaire's tax plus a billion to regain control.

SF is Broke.

The couple should put up a gate and close the street until they drop the suit.

A vacant lot there would be a bargain at $50/SF. Let the sellers and buyers hire separate appraisers, and split the difference. The sellers will still come out $millions to the good, and the homeowners will have no more tax bills. Everybody wins.

Rent it out to a conservative group in 2020 and line it with Trump/Pence yard signs.

the new owners could maybe erect a nice new high rise Section 8 welfare housing project....to help house many of San Fransicko’s thousands of street beggars

they’ll be Helping The Homeless while also Increasing the Neighborhood’s DIversity

all major left-wing causes, should be very popular in SF

“The Association has not paid those taxes because the City has been sending the property tax bills to the Association at the following address: 47 Kearny Street. [...] Which is not the address of the association or any member.

If San Fransicko failed to provide procedural due process in failing to submit bills to the owners or, particularly, failed to give them notice of the sale, the owners could very well be successful in overturning the sale.
Of course this is the law in a `flyover’ state (notice and an opportunity to be heard) and the 48 others. CA’s mileage may vary.
If CA decides to adhere to US Constitutional procedural due process the buyers will probably get back their purchase price, interest and perhaps ten per cent on top.

Decades ago, I lived a few blocks from there....my how property values have soared. Presidio Terrace homes are not the most expensive in SF, just nice big houses. Filled with liberal morons who want to be gated off from the people they “represent.”

So should the owner of a parking lot in the same general area, with the same amount of paved acreage, also pay $14 in property tax?

That seems an absurdly low amount, less than $1/year per homeowner. Can you get that kind of deal anywhere else in the city?

If I paid taxes there I would be livid...

What happened to them is ridiculous...but I cant feel much sympathy after watching how elite californian urban snobs favor enviormemtal policies that devastate farmers.

ROTFLMAO

I believe the owners have the responsibility to maintain mailing address with the county assessor for the express purpose of giving the assessor a way to send bills.

The assessor should have posted d notice on the street at the time of the action.

When I run property reports, there is always a mailing address for the owners which may or may not be the same as the address for the property.

Lastly they had an accounting firm and must have switched. the new firm had the responsibility to pay the tax bills, but ultimately the owners are responsible for what they hire the accountants to do.

Secrets, ha! Here is a link to the San Francisco property records search site. Type Presidio Terrace into the search box. All the properties are listed to the right, withe records of all the previous transactions and ownership transfers. The last sale price and valuations are there too. Have some fun seeing who the whiners are.

I don’t understand how the HOA has any chance of nullifying the sale...and to be fair, I’m not a lawyer, I don’t play one on TV and my knowledge of CA property tax law is, shall we say, pretty incomplete...

But we’re in an HOA in NC, and we have quarterly reports, an elected board that includes a treasurer (among others), an annual meeting and a CPA that certifies the books every year...the taxes are a line item on every report as the HOA owns the roads which have value and are taxed...and the HOA is not full of billionaire business people, politicians and investors...and yet, the taxes get paid every year...

And I’m sure there’s a market to rent out the security shack on Air BnB for frat parties, wedding receptions, porn shoots...the possibilities are endless...
