A patriot puts the Constitution and Republic first in terms of service and swearing to protect and defend that Constitution and Republic; which by the way serves to protect the right of every citizen to worship as they please and follow any denomination they choose.
Belief in God and in particular in specific denominations is a personal choice. Whether one follows a particular denomination or not has no bearing on being patriotic and serving one’s country.
“So help me God.”
That is the foundation on which the oath to protect and defend is built. Anything less is doomed to failure. No matter your denomination.
