Be assured that for the leftist-statist, Free Republic is ‘alt-right’.
It is a targeting term, and nothing more.
Not picking a fight with you guy, but just pointing out how certain terms can take you down a rabbit hole. When arguing with a lefty if you use terms like “left” and “right” things can get fuzzy fast. Different definitions, different countries and other things can get you bogged down in semantics. I prefer to go straight to the source and call them MARXISTS. Just my 2 cents.

Exactly, the National Socialists were only considered “right wing” because they were to the right of the international communist party of the USSR. Even in the U.S. there was little appetite for free market capitalism due to what is now regarded as a government caused depression.
Some people were there to preserve southern history. They weren’t Nazis or Antifa.
Some of the leftists were just run of the mill Democrats who didn’t intend to be part of violence.
But there were people intent on violence on both sides - likely a small % of the entire crowd.
They are socialists. Finally someone recognizes it.

BS. Let’s see the evidence on what the statue removal protesters believe. What industries are they proposing to nationalize? Do they support a government monopoly for medical care? Racial and sexual quotas? Confiscatory tax rates?
Your problem is you’re thinking leftist vs conservative. Conservatism doesn’t constitute the whole right wing. Those guys aren’t conservative. They HATE conservatives. They think conservatives got us in this mess. They blame conservatives for not getting in the streets and opposing this nightmare before it metastasized to the state it is in the Current Year. Maybe instead of condemning we should be grateful that there is one group that is willing to go out and mix it up with the antifa. We certainly haven’t been.

Problem is, some leftists are in denial...the Stalinists hate the Trotskyites and vice versa, sometimes more than they hate us, because to disagree on anything is heretical to them and they fear it may lead to reform and counterrevolution. So one faction of socialists invented the terms right and left so as to distance themselves from the other, when in fact they are just two sides of the same sheet of paper, a couple mils apart.
