Both NBC News and the BBC have put out videos offering fact-checks on some of President Trump’s claims about what took place in Charlottesville. Both agree there were violent anti-fascist protesters who came to the protest looking for a fight. First, here’s NBC’s report.

"Since the weekend, witnesses have told us that in fact, both sides were antagonizing for a fight,"; NBC's Tom Costello says. Later, the report shows a clip of Trump's Tuesday press conference in which he said, "What about the alt-left? What about the fact that they came charging ... with clubs in their hands, swinging clubs?" Costello's narration continues, "In fact, that's true. Witnesses tell NBC News there were people on both sides who seemed ready for a fight and some counter-protesters were armed with clubs, some with pepper spray."
The BBC published a similar look at the violence in Charlottesville and what Trump said about it. BBC reporter Joel Gunter, who was there Saturday, said, "The President said that the violence on Saturday was perpetrated by both sides. "After playing a clip of Trump’s press conference, Gunter continued, "Trump is right. There was violence on both sides. I saw counter-protesters throw bottles, rocks and paint and clash with the white supremacists. Both sides sprayed pepper spray.
Gunter goes on to say that the "majority" of counter-protesters were "locals" who "didn't want racism on their streets."

I suspect that a minimum of twenty percent of everyone there...both alt-right/alt-left...were hired and brought in. Maybe even paid for by the same foundation. It’s like a WWE-wrestling script.

There is plenty of evidence that the AntiFa fought to ensure no video of their behavior.
They clubbed official media and undercover videographers.
As repugnant as their views are, the Nazi’s should be allowed to have their event in peace. Anything else isn’t America.
Charlottsville set this whole thing up. They should have never permitted the counter protest to be so close to the Nazi event. Of course, if you just leave the statue up, nothing happens at all.
IIRC there was no evidence that Republican Congressmen who the Bernie supporter tried to murder were *also* spoiling for a fight.
Let’s examine the facts. On Friday night, when Antifa was outnumbered about 5 to 1 there was almost no violence. On Saturday morning when the numbers were inverted there was a great deal of violence. I am wondering if there could possibly be something here? If “both sides were violent” then we didn’t the Antifa folks get their rear end handed to them on Friday night?
Uh, they didn’t permit Antifa. Of course, it’s C’Ville. They didn’t need to.
Well, this certainly took attention off the Imran Awan scandal.
In the past majority of media opinion and analysis, he hasn’t been vindicated; and he won’t be.
Vast majority, that is.
It wasn’t just the leftists who wielded weapons who were violent, the crowd that purposely blocked the road so that their partners in crime could attack cars with metal rods were also violent and criminal. The mob that blocked the road were not shrinking violets they were active participants in acts of violence. This is important to note because many enablers and social justice warriors have to be held accountable for their criminal participation and they need to be locked up.
I was at first struck by how those on the so called “alt right” came in combat gear spoiling for a fight. But I have since realized they were NOT spoiling for a fight but based on lessons learned from the left’s police empowered attacks on them (at Trump rallies and Berkley), then came ready to survive the inevitably alt left attack coordinated with the Dem leadership.
That’s going to be increasingly hard for them to deny as this thing progresses.
