The opening gambit for refugee resettlement in Bonner County was met with strong opposition in Sandpoint Wednesday evening. Attendees from all parts of Northern Idaho quickly filled the 150 seat capacity of Community Hall while 50 or more remained on the front lawn and sidewalk waving signs opposing the proposal.
The meeting, which was scheduled opposite the final chance for citizen input at the Sandpoint City Annual Budget meeting, may not have gone as planned by organizers from The Sandpoint Human Rights Task Force. Expecting a capacity crowd, the fire department was there to keep a head count as people entered the hall. Law enforcement was also on hand and stepped in to settle boisterous audience members several times.

Coeur d’Alene is only about 35 miles away from Spokane making it an excellent spillover site (within the US State Department’s magic 100 mile radius for resettlement). We were vacationing in CDA a year ago and saw groups of "refugees" at the waterfront park.

Refugees by definition are ‘temporarily displaced persons’. When the need for displacement is gone, who is preparing to return these people to their homeland? That’s a question for the people resettling the refugees.
Yup, plus I would guarantee the counties and states also get more money from the feds. Prison system is the same way with each new prisoner. Keep them full, boys!
