Italy said on Saturday it had deported two Moroccans and a Syrian on security grounds, lifting to 202 the number of potentially dangerous Islamists expelled since January 2015.
The announcement came as security was raised after vehicle attacks in Barcelona and elsewhere, and a widely-reported warning from the Islamic State group that Italy is next on its hit list.
Administrative expulsions, which are not subject to any appeal, are one of the main planks of Italys strategy for preventing the kind of jihadist attacks suffered by other European countries.
Sicily decided Saturday to introduce barriers preventing vehicular access to six pedestrianized areas of the islands capital Palermo, reflecting fears of truck attacks. [ ]
The latest individuals deported included a 38-year-old Moroccan said to have been radicalized while in prison for minor crimes. [ ]
The Syrian, who also operated under a false Tunisian identity, was arrested in 2015 for involvement in illegal immigration and placed under house arrest at a center for asylum seekers in southern Italy.

Racists...
Italy has at least six million “immigrants”, at least one million of them illegal. They need to do a whole lot more deportations if they wish to remain safe.
Wow...they got rid of a whole 3 Moslems.
I sure they are much safer now.
202 deported since 2015?
That’s not even a drop in the bucket compared to what Italy should have been doing. The Moroccans and other uninvited have been flooding into Italy for the last two years, with most politicians allowing it to continue.
Hopefully, it’s not too late. Are they now prepared to have the EU get upset with them and call them nasty names?
When I read the headline, I thought Italy had started a program to expel ALL of them, not just three specific ones.
I’ll believe they are serious when they start acting seriously.
A good start...
I haven’t seen the figures comparing other EU countries’ deportations. Of course, the AFP would put special focus on any that appear to be “racism”, such as these “administrative expulsions” that don’t permit appeals.
I guess you saw the picture of the sign in the article? I’d be pretty pissed off if all I had to live in was a country that desolate and ugly. The whole of the ME is like living in a cat box IMHO.
Good move.
Only about 2½ million more to get rid of unless they want to lose the country to Islam.....
Number of Muslims in Italy rockets from 2,000 to 2 MILLION
Mon, Oct 31, 2016
Academics say the number is expected to continue to rise as migrants from Africa and the Middle East continue to arrive.
Sociologist Massimo Introvigne, director of the Centre for New Religions Studies (Cesnur), branded the number shocking.
He said: "This number is shocking also because in 1970 there were only between 2,000 and 3,000."
Mr Introvigne said the number of Muslims in Italy is growing rapidly.

It’s the “religion”, not the region. Consider how the Jews vastly improved their homeland out of the wastelands that the Ottomans had let it become.
“The Syrian, who also operated under a false Tunisian identity, was arrested in 2015 for involvement in illegal immigration and placed under house arrest at a center for asylum seekers in southern Italy. ”
Yeah, that’ll really deter them!
IOW, the tiny little country’s leaders admit to letting in at the very least 202 potential terrorists. Their vetting process is no better than ours. Complete incompetence and working for the enemy.
A tepid start, aim higher for better results.
Sounds like a good idea to expel them all.
Only 2? Should be 2 million!
There is an old Arab joke that goes "You let one Jew in here and before you know it, the whole desert is like a garden".
