No, that’s not true. It was Mrs. Nesbitt who designed the meals at the White House. She had served Mrs. Roosevelt for years before they made it to Washington. It’s true that FDR hated her food but that was because Eleanor had no interest in food preparation or serving anyone good food. Typical of that “aristocratic” generation. She famously served hot dogs to the King of England.

Wasn’t Eleanor a dyke? I just realized she looks a lot like Kathy Bates.

In keeping with (or perhaps helping to establish) the tradition of
liberal women, Elanor Roosevelt was the penultimate Hose-Beast.
That said, I would personally consider Cold Mutton
and chicken livers a sumptuous repast.

Are we sure this article isn’t about the Mooch? (who has the onslaught of pics of her stuffing her pie hole while she made schoolchildren starve?)

One would think that the President at one time must have asked himself “Why am I being served all this crap?” and told the White House chef “At 9:30PM, I want a steak medium rare and a loaded baked potato delivered to the Oval Office”.

TR’s Mother who was a Bulloch from Georgia, was very frugal. I think she was a good cook but tended to prepare meals which were inexpensive.
This despite the family being wealthy.

FDR and Eleanor were really the Bill and Hillary Clinton of their day. FDR was sleeping with every women in the Whitehouse BUT Eleanor (which one must admit was quite a feat for a man in a wheelchair). Eleanor on the other had a string of lesbian lovers and didn't give a fig what (or who) FDR was doing (or in modern terms, they had an "understanding").
The funny thing is, the entire Washington Press Corp new about their escapades, in those days however that was just something that would whispered and joked about, but not reported.

My Mother who was born in 1918 was a very good cook but she used a lot of grease.
My Grandmother who was born in the 1800s pretty much drenched everything in grease.

Why would Eleanor care about FDR’s affairs with women? She had her own affairs — with women also.
