Communism 101. Mao approved.

Read up on the "Four Olds" campaign during China's Cultural Revolution:

Four Olds Campaign

China is still trying to recover from the historical and cultural damage caused by this campaign even in 2017.

To: I want the USA back

Yes, this has been going on in the background for a loooong time, and is now finally erupting to the surface.

The timing is interesting. The democrat party and the media engineered Charlottesville because they are desperate and have absolutely no other ideas how to keep their radical base fired up for 2018, IMO.

I am NOT saying slavery was a good thing, I am just asking a question. Would you rather — right now, today in 2017 — be a citizen of the United States or a citizen of Zimbabwe?
*********
To answer your question, anybody in his right mind would choose the USA — despite its slavery history — over any other country.

Let me add that many Freepers might be willing to acquiesce in limited removal from public squares if the GOPe and conservative virtue signalers were actively opposing the war on white people, instead of picking on inarticulate protesters who are fully engaged in this effort.

after the last proponents\icons and history of slavers are erased, there is no proof slavery happened.

True. It's counterproductive.

Protesters are sawing off the branch of the tree they're sitting on.

Pretty soon they'll be clamoring to restore the monuments so that people don't forget that there was slavery and Jim Crow laws in the country.

I have no problem with putting some statues in museums, if that’s what the locals all agree on. It should be a locally-decided thing.

But the effort should be accompanied with the TRUTH, and the problem is, the GOPe isn’t much better on issues involving telling the TRUTH than the antifas or the BLMs. Maybe a little better, but not much.

The history of slavery will never be erased because blacks and leftists won’t let it be erased. They’ll simply alter the narrative so that the entire discussion is handled using their terms and to further their objectives. But they will never, ever let go of the history of slavery because it is the linchpin to their perpetual claim to victimhood.

“...soon they will be going after George Washington...”
The alt-left has 2 choices:
1-Go after:
-Vietnam War memorial. After Nixon became president, the left supported the communists in the Vietnam War, not America or Americans. They spit on American soldiers.
-Korean War memorial. At the time Democrats supported this effort against totalitarian government, but that changed during the Vietnam War.
-All statues and all references to Thomas Jefferson because he owned slaves.
-All statues and all references to George Washington because he owned slaves.
-Rename the capital of the U.S. to something else.
2-or be grossly hypocritical.

A case can indeed be made for removal of confederate statues from public squares (not to be confused with historical parks), where their presence can be construed as an endorsement of slavery.

How can you tell the difference between those "construed as an endorsement of slavery" vs. those that simply honor the soldiers?

Most of these statues came at the 50 year and 100 year anniversary of the Civil War. They commemorated the great sacrifice made trying to free the South from FedGov and gain independence like their forefathers did 87 years prior. Slavery had been dead for a long time so are you saying my ancestors wanted a return to slavery in 1905, when a lot of these statues were erected, and somehow that would beget some kind of return to slavery? Care to document that?

The problem I have with a lot of blacks is that they see every thing through a colored lens. NOT EVERY ISSUE INVOLVES RACE. This is why I pity blacks that think like that. If that is how they wake up in the morning thinking about how they are black and some other people are not and everyone is out to get them. Sad. I wouldn't live like that. I would just off myself.

Maybe I am being insensitive but they are tearing down statues of Robt. E Lee and calling me a Nazi for wanting to preserver history. So the ante has been raised. I didn't want this.
